Easy Sweet Potato Casserole

  4.5 – 43 reviews  • Sweet Potato Casserole Recipes

Tahini chicken is unusual, flavorful, and quick to prepare. Tahini, a sesame paste that is an essential component, is often found in Asian markets but has recently been spotted in major grocery chains. Similar to a sesame-based peanut sauce satay, it has an Asian and Mediterranean flavor profile. Over couscous or noodles, serve.

Total Time: 1 hr
Servings: 10

Ingredients

  1. 6 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  2. 1 cup white sugar
  3. ½ cup brown sugar
  4. 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  5. 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  6. 1 cup miniature marshmallows, or as needed

Instructions

  1. Place sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover with salted water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes; drain.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a deep casserole dish.
  3. Mash potatoes with a potato masher in a bowl until no large lumps remain. Stir in both sugars, cinnamon, and butter until well combined, then transfer to the prepared casserole dish. Cover with a layer of miniature marshmallows.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until marshmallows are browned, about 30 minutes.

Following some of the other comments, I took out the white sugar entirely and reduced the cinnamon. With those adjustments, though, it turned out perfectly!

Way too much cinnamon and sugar. Wish I had read the other reviews before making this.

Eliminate the white sugar and increase the brown sugar to 1 cup. I add a little more butter to make mine. Easy and great recipe.

Just eliminate the white sugar. 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 2 tablespoons butter, 1/2 to 1 cup chopped pecans, marshmallows to cover the top of your dish. Sweet potatoes are already naturally sweet, brown sugar will take it to a different flavor level. I’ve never seen a recipe ever call for more than 1tsp. cinnamon. Not a big marshmallow fan? Take 5 and place in flower shape, insert pecan in the center. Bake as directed. Old lady who knows how to cook. 😉

Love these! I cut the cinnamon and sugar in half the first time I made it. Otherwise it would have been too much of each. I threw these in my mixer to mash them – worked like a charm.

I use the same recipe basically I prefer brown sugar so I put in about a cup of brown sugar 1/2 the cinnamon up to 2 sticks of butter Mom’s magic ingredient would be a shot of Brandy.

So easy to make and they were so good! If you like sweet sweet potatoes, this is the easiest and best recipe I’ve found so far! I’ll be making them for Thanksgiving every year now! (And maybe even on Sundays!)

My husband liked it but I halved sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon. I was glad to read other reviews.

This was really good recipe, but I don’t think it blew minds. but then again, it calls for a TON of cinnamon, and it was cinnamony with just 1/2 of what they’re asking for. I also added a half cup of orange juice and don’t regret doing so.

Great ingredients, taste delicious, but I love my sweet potatoes cubed rather than mashed.

Came out great!….I stirred in a little marshmallow cream, because our level of sweetness is about 1000%.

Way to much cinnamon! I only did 1Tblsp and it was still to much!! My daughter thought the same.

I adjusted the recipe to 3 servings and used 2 yams to make it. I was worried about the color at first from the brown sugar and cinnamon… but, THIS IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER TASTED. I don’t know if the portion size changed the recipe, but it is delicious. It tastes like a perfectly roasted marshmallow with pumpkin pie. I may have to devour the whole thing!

I just used this recipe for temp & time. I always eyeball amounts of ingredients less is more usually. The gist of it is right on. Doesnt need sugar at all, but I use a little brown just for the flavor.
