It looks yummy. Think I’ll have to try it
Delicious and very easy to make but takes a little longer to bake than recipe states. When I recently made it I substituted crushed ritz crackers for corn flakes and I may like this topping a little better. This recipe is always a hit and definitely a keeper.
I have been making this for years as many others have. I change my recipe a little. I add one small bag of bacon bites and 1 tblspoon of butter. It is delicious
I love this. Not a healthy side but, I love this.
We love this casserole every Christmas! This was my first attempt (mom always made it). I left the hash browns out on the counter for about 45 minutes prior to making this. Your family won’t be dissapionted.
As is, four stars. It has a bit of sour from the sour cream, so good!! I wanted to tweak it a bit: Extra cheese on top, garlic and onion powder added to wet mixture. I bet bacon bits would be awesome. I also defrosted my potatoes first even though the recipe didn’t say to. It just seemed like I should.
My family loves this recipe enough that my boys will even reheat and eat leftovers. They don’t care for corn flake topping so I substitute crushed Ritz crackers and butter as topping instead. Try it and enjoy!
Christmas Every Year!! Great with Ham or Beef
We make this with tater tots instead! So good!
Not exactly a healthy choice, but a well-loved classic for the holidays. Worth the calories : ).
Good recipe, but I substituted the shredded hash browns for cubes and used cream of mushroom. That’s how my grandma use to make them and I much prefer the overall texture.
Excellent!! I sauted the O’brien green pepper and potato chunks (defrosted in the fridge overnight) with one big chopped uponion and butter-added onion powder, garlic powder and seasoned salt to the mix-did this instead of hash browns for more texture, and used cream of celery soup since I was added chopped up ham to the mix and used what another awesome person recommended with a crushed ritz cracker and butter topping-delicious!! A keeper for sure and great comfort food.
I couldn’t find an aunt’s recipe that we have loved, so I tried this one because it was close to what I remember. The flavors were great, but the texture of the potatoes were a little chewy. I used another brand of potatoes, so that may have been the problem. I think the original recipe we liked used cubed hash browns instead of shredded and had a little bit more moisture, possibly milk and drizzled butter. I’m going to keep looking for our family recipe, but this was reasonably good.
I love this recipe. I add ham and top with cheese instead of corn flakes. Also, I sometimes serve an egg over medium on top and it’s phenomenal
I’ve made this several times and it’s always delicious. However, we recently started cutting carbs so now I make it with cubed radishes instead of potatoes and make my own cream of chicken soup paste and it is still delicious but much more keto friendly.
This is a staple in our house, everyone loves it, but I save it for holidays. Now the one thing I’d change is skip those cornflakes on top, what is the point of those? No one I know adds them so skip them all together.
I made it exactly like the recipe for Thanksgiving and everyone said “Please make this every time!”
This casserole was very delicious! I added a little more cheese on top under the cereal topping – I love cheese!! The kids have requested me to make again the next family cookout!
I didn’t change a thing and it was simply wonderful!!! I have never had Cheesy Potatoes! You can bet this isn’t the last time, though! Made the entire house smell yummy while it was in the oven, too! Thanks for a great recipe!
Very tasty and easy
This is excellent! I add 1 diced white onion (about a cup) as opposed to the green onions and I also add 1/2 stick of butter to the potato/sour cream mixture prior to baking because it seems a tad dry without it.
