Thought this was perfect exactly as is, wouldn’t change a thing. Had it today on a corned beef sandwich. Update on Oct 11, 2022 – I agree with many other reviewers that this dressing needs a lot more horseradish to give it some zing. I used this spread on a grilled corned beef-swiss-rye sandwich which we enjoyed, but the dressing was a bit runny. There’s another recipe on site that I’ve been making for years, and although this was pretty good, I think I’ll stick with the other recipe. But I’ll add some horseradish to it, that really elevated the flavor.
I needed a sauce for my Ruben sandwiches and thought this one sounded good. However, I did not have the chili sauce so I used Mr. Bing chili crisp instead. I backed it off to 1 tablespoon and I’m sure it probably changed the flavor quite a bit since it’s a pretty potent sauce. It tasted like something you would order in a fancy restaurant and say, “this is the best Ruben I’ve ever had, why doesn’t it taste like this when I make it at home?” It had layers of flavor between the chili crisp, the horseradish, and the onion. It might be a little strong for a salad, but for a dip or sauce it sure was yummy! This is a keeper but will continue to use the chili crisp.
Easy and very good. Made it as written. Perfect for Reubens.
This is the best I’ve ever tasted. I made it according to recipe and added a little more horseradish. It’s excellent!!!
Very good. Next time I will double the horseradish and cut the hot sauce down to 1T. I don’t mind the spice, but IMO, the horseradish give a more flavorable and less painful heat.
I cut the recipe in half for Reubens. Did not have chili sauce, so I used ketchup with added chili powder for substitute. Happy with the results. Thank You for the recipe
Delicious and easy! Made this to make a rueben sandwich using a pulled pork recipe.
This is a really good recipe. I added more horseradish and Worcestershire sauce.
Stellar! and easy to prepare. Add a little fresh ginger, pour over chicken in a slowcooker for a yummy moist Moscow Chicken.
delish!!! Didn’t change a thing. Great on pastrami and swiss with rye bread…soooo good.
SO EASY & TASTY AS WELL…!!!~ (couldnt find in grow. stores..so I decided to make it myself!! 🙂
Tasty. So easy! I used the dressing to make “Golfers Chicken” (another wonderful AR recipe!) I had to substitute grated ginger for the horseradish. It was really delicious with the ginger. Am making it again for hoagie night.
I made this to go with Corned Beef Special Sandwiches from this site. I didn’t have chili sauce so I had to make up my own using chili powder but otherwise followed the recipe. It was quick and easy and tasted great on our sandwiches.
I used this with the Pork Tenderloin recipe on this site and didn’t have a jar of Russian dressing. So I found this recipe and it is so easy to make. Next time I plan to try using part mayo and part plain yogurt.
This is easy and tasty! I’ve used it on Ruebens, salads, and last night…..on a tuna burger. This recipe is a “keeper!”
Pretty tasty. I decreased the mayo to 3/4 cup but kept everything else the same.
Delicious! I used fat free mayo and low sodium Worcestershire, fresh parsley. I made my own ketchup previously (low salt & sugar free) and used 3 tablespoons of that in place of the chili sauce along with 3 tablespoons chili powder. I used my stick blender to combine the fresh onion and parsley. Everyone thought it tasted fresh and was more flavorful than the bottled version. Will be using this in place of store bought from now on.
Easy to make and tasty. We used it as a raw veggie dip and loved it.
Good, but not awesome. But then, I’m not really a Russian or Thousand Island person (because these two dressings are very similar). That being said, I tried it as a dip for cold crab and it was delicious!
Easy and excellent! I didn’t have chili sauce but I did have sambal Olek which is similar so I used that instead. This went great on our pastrami sandwiches and I would highly recommend this over store bought Russian dressing.
For a Russian dressing, this was good. Did not taste at all like 1000 Island, in my opinion. I added an extra half teaspoon horseradish for an extra kick and it was perfect for Reubens. Also was just fine with light mayonnaise.
