Ingredients

  1. 2 rolls breakfast sausage, mild
  2. 1/2 pound lean ground beef
  3. 1 cup chopped onions
  4. 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  5. 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
  6. 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  7. 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  8. 2 cups cooked rice, medium grain (cooked in chicken broth)
  9. 2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls
  10. 2 cups shredded cheese, Mexican style with jalapenos
  11. 1 package Canadian bacon

Instructions

  1. In a heavy skillet, add breakfast sausage, beef, onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Cook over medium heat on stove until the meat is no longer pink and the vegetables are tender. Add salt, brown sugar, and rice, and mix well. Remove from heat and add 1 cup shredded cheese and mix well.
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  3. On a round baking stone arrange crescent dough triangles in a circle with wide bases overlapping to form a circle in the center of the stone. The crescent roll points should be hanging over the edges. Place a scoop of rice and meat mixture evenly on wide edges of crescent roll. Sprinkle 1/2 cup shredded cheese evenly over meat and rice mixture. Bring points up over filling and tuck under center bases. The filling will not be completely covered with crescent rolls. Slice Canadian bacon in half and place slices over mixture between rolls. Bake for 13 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining shredded cheese on top of dish.
  4. Optional garnish: Cut top off medium bell pepper. Remove seeds and membrane. Fill with breakfast syrup. Place pepper in center of ring with arranged shredded lettuce around. Slice and drizzle syrup for a special added flavor!

Wow! This is relatively simple to make and is such a showstopper. It is very tasty, and is good with the maple syrup. Even my picky 4 year old loved it. I can’t wait to make it for a crowd.

Simply fabulous. The entire fam looks forward to this every year at Christmas. I use one roll of spicy sausage, any kind of cheese works well and also throw some ham in instead of using Canadian bacon. The spicy and sweet combo is great. Making the dough ring is a little tricky, but don’t worry if it’s not perfect because it will still taste great.
Also, don’t waste your time on real maple syrup. Our family favorites are Mrs. Butterworth’s and Log Cabin (for folks who don’t like HFCS and they both complement the dish wonderfully.

This was amazing. I was hesitant to try it with so few reviews, but it was a huge hit. Everyone from my teenagers, to the adults at my brunch loved it. I was asked to make this every week! And I agree, the flavors seemed odd, but actually paired nicely.

I made this today for a group and everyone LOVED it! Even the kids. I made the filling last night ommiting the cheese, then heated it up this morning – added the cheese and continued with the recipe. At first I wasn’t sure about the filling with the brown sugar, but boy did it all come together nicely. I think next time I may add some fresh cilantro or maybe italian parsley to the rice mixture just for another layer of freshness.
Great recipe as is or to build upon!

I made this brunch ring for our annual sisters’ weekend. It got rave reviews from all four sisters. I brought the leftovers home for my husband and he loved it, too. Now he’s requested it for dinner so I’m here to print off the recipe once again. Also, I used reduced fat ingredients, turkey sausage and omitted the ground beef to cut down on the fat and calories. Still excellent!

My husband is men’s leader at our church and we fix breakfast once a month for the men at church. I went on line to find a new idea for breakfast and came across this recipe.
I fixed 2 for our Men’s Breakfast and had no leftovers.

The men at church loved it and wanted to know if I was going to make it again soon.

Great recipe!!!!!
