This isn’t a recipe.  If you want to know how to batter and fry fish, look elsewhere.  If you go with this, you will need to do some other things.  You will need some liquid in the batter, like milk or beer.  Old Bay Seasoning is about 90% salt, so don’t use too much (maybe a tbs) and don’t add additional salt.  Coat the fillets in flour before putting them in the batter.  This helps the batter stick to the fish.  Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the fish to the pan.  You can test it by dropping some batter into the oil and seeing if it floats to the top and starts to sizzle.  But don’t let the oil get too hot, or the butter will burn.

Super good.  I beat two eggs, dipped the fish in that, then in the flour mix.  Fried in 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup coconut oil.  Delicious

Worst recipe ever. No ingredient measurements. No range temperature. No estimated cooking time. The flour egg mix was too thick to be a batter and needed milk to thin it (as recommended by other posts). The crust had too much egg in it, making it heavy, and it would not stick to the fish.

Not a big fan of old bay seasoning so I added paprika, chili pepper, a pinch of garlic powder, and some cajun seasoning. For those who say the batter is too thick, you probably needed to cook it on higher heat to get that batter nice and crispy. Turned out excellent, but then again I caught the rock cod fresh two hours before cooking it. Gotta love Avila Beach. I never give any recipe 5 stars unless i obsess over it, but this is a great quick and easy fried fish recipe.

I loved this and found it very tasty! My family loved it too, we were given some Hake fish and normaly a stew is made out of this type of fish. But we were craving a fried fish and I did a search on this site and found Nancy’s fried rock fish and loved the batter. Will use this again.

Batter was too thick, had to be thinned with milk. Could have used water to thin it too. Tasted like rockfish with the Old Bay Seasoning in the background.

Very good flavor. Had to add milk to batter to thin it out enough to coat fish evenly.

The mixture(sauce) was a little hard to keep around the fish it wanted to run off and not stay even. though the end product wasn’t as asthetic as the one on tv i’m sure. It had a pretty good taste.
