Ingredients:
- 1 pound white fish fillets, such as cod or tilapia
- 1/4 cup fish sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro, for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine the fish sauce, water, sugar, lime juice, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
- Add the fish fillets to the bowl and turn to coat.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Remove the fish fillets from the marinade and place them in a baking dish.
- Bake the fish fillets for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
- Garnish with cilantro and serve.
Tips:
- You can use any type of white fish that you like. I used cod, but you could also use tilapia, halibut, or flounder.
- If you don’t have fish sauce, you can substitute another type of salty liquid, such as soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce.
- You can adjust the amount of sugar to your liking. If you like your fish more sweet, you can add more sugar.
- You can also add other herbs and spices to the marinade, such as chili powder, ginger, or turmeric.
Enjoy!
Here are some additional tips for making this dish:
- To prevent the fish fillets from sticking to the baking dish, grease the dish with cooking spray.
- To check if the fish fillets are cooked through, insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of a fillet. The internal temperature should be 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Let the fish fillets rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the fillets.
