Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

  4.6 – 25 reviews

Compared to making handmade ice cream, this frozen yogurt recipe is a breeze. You should note that this freezes much faster than ice cream. Additionally, feel free to cut the sugar if you prefer tart frozen yogurt.

Additional Time: 3 hrs 15 mins
Total Time: 3 hrs 20 mins
Servings: 6
Yield: 3 cups

Ingredients

  1. 3 cups nonfat Greek yogurt
  2. ⅔ cup white sugar
  3. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Stir together yogurt, sugar, and vanilla in a bowl until sugar is dissolved. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  2. Pour chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer’s directions until it reaches “soft-serve” consistency.
  3. Transfer to a 1- or 2-quart plastic container with a lid; cover surface with plastic wrap and seal. Allow frozen yogurt to ripen in the freezer for at least 2 hours or overnight.

This turned out great. I added three mashed bananas and reduced the sugar to 1/3 cup. I will try other fruits also, figs should be ripe soon. The best part is there are no preservatives or strange ingredients or artificial colors.

Made this using homemade greek yogurt. Added 1 cup freeze dried strawberries to the initial mix. Processed in 15 minutes. Awesome!

Made this with Costco fat free yogurt and it came out absolutely amazing. I’m going to use this as a base for a bunch of different things.

I have a mini ice cream maker and I used a 5.3 oz serving of Greek coconut yogurt, a 1/4 cup coconut milk and 1/2 TBS flavored vodka. It turned out very well. I love my mini ice cream freezer. I can make frozen yogurt every day!

I add almond milk unsweeten and 1 extra teaspoon of extract

ok so I loved it. It is awesome and simple. Since I didn’t have an Ice Cream maker I just mixed it for 5 min. every hour till it was done. I even shredded some dark chocolate on he top to make it look fancy. I hope you’ll try it too!

Did I miss something? This ended up being very cold, slightly icy vanilla yogurt. I froze for 8 hours and the texture was not at all what I expected, not to mention it is cheaper to buy froyo than make this with a large tub of yogurt. Will not make again.

Delicious and easy. This is a game changer. I made this using organic Greek yogurt from Costco. This was so delicious and healthful that I will be making our frozen yogurt desserts home made from now on.

Very good. I saw a review that said it froze too hard, but that cook also indicated using vanilla yogurt instead of vanilla extract. That’s fine, but the point of adding vanilla extract is that because it’s booze, it won’t freeze rock hard. I’ve also made this with Skyr and it’s good and obviously, less sweet. Thanks for a great recipe!

So very easy and yummy. Unfortunately, this recipe does not make much. Next time I will double it

Yum! Easy and so good! I used homemade yogurt because the batch was huge so I wanted to use some up. We had to wait quite a while for it to thaw enough to be able to scoop and eat it though.

Super easy. I make my own yogurt in the instant pot and then use that to make up this frozen yogurt. The vanilla is great, but my favorite variation is to replace the vanilla with orange juice and a little zest (a couple of oranges worth, not just a tsp.).

I used frozen fruits, and there was no reason to add sugar, so I left it out. Was great!

Ideal vanilla fro-yo. Tastes exactly like you expect it should. Sweet enough yet not too sweet and perfect vanilla flavor. Simple recipe is very easy to make with my Cuisinart ice cream maker and retained a nice soft consistency after many hours in the freezer.

I had some chocolate chip cookies that weren’t up to my standards..I crushed them up fine in the food processor and added Greek vanilla yogurt, a drizzle of vodka and a little Truvia granular sweetener. I was following instructions of other reviewers. I froze the mixture and then gave it a spin in the processor and refroze it. Oh, Yummm!

I used 1/4 cup of light sugar (Dominos sugar and stevia mix). Also added 2T of vodka to prevent freezing too hard. It came out nice and tart, almost as good as Trader Joe’s plain frozen yogurt. I used a Cuisinart ice cream maker, and it was ready much faster than regular ice cream.
