Roasted Yams

It’s fun to make with your kids or for a birthday party with a Halloween or ocean theme using this recipe, which I learnt to make in kindergarten.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 40 mins
Servings: 2

Ingredients

  1. 1 large yam, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch thick slices
  2. kosher salt and ground black pepper to taste
  3. 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet or shallow baking dish with aluminum foil.
  2. Arrange yam slices in the prepared pan so they are overlapping slightly. Season with salt and pepper and then drizzle olive oil over them as evenly as possible.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven until tender and yam slices have begun to wrinkle around the edges, about 30 minutes.

Worked like a dream! Yummy too! Made a large batch to help with meal prep for this week. Oh, I had a crunchy little sliver. Humm, yam chips next?

Easy to make and my husband enjoyed them as he is a picky eater

I cut them a bit thinner. My hubby and kids – even the fussy 9 yr old – liked them. Me, not so much, but they were edible. Will slice thicker next time. Worth making again sinve 3/4 of the fam enjoyed them.

I absolutely loved this recipe and so did my family… especially my dad. He’s a picky eater. I followed the cooking instructions to the letter; however, I deviated from the seasonings. I brushed the potatoes with butter and seasoned them with cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. It was delicious!!!! Thank you for this wonderful recipe

These are tasty treats. I didn’t like how done they were after 30 mins so I turned the temp up to 400 and have them about 15 more mins. I’ll make these again!

Total YUM! Made this as instructed with the addition of a sprinkle of garlic salt. Really wonderful and easy. Love a yam recipe that doesn’t include brown sugar, it doesn’t need it!

We loved this. Of course, to satisfy my desire for a hint of sweet, I did add 2 tablespoons (unpacked) brown sugar and drizzled with pure maple syrup.

We liked these as well as leftovers as we did fresh. I surely will make them again.

I love the idea of cutting them into 1/4 slices. I sprayed my glass 9X13 dish with Pam and baked them without having to use tin foil. SO delicious. An easy and fast way to do sweet potatoes.

Salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and Original All Purpose Spike Gourmet Natural Seasoning on thinly sliced, oiled Yams. Fantastic!

I added 1 teaspoonful of chili powder to make it a bit more spicy. Good. I will try it again to find my perfect combo. I am looking for more of a savory flavor…

Even my 2.5 year old liked this! We got some yams in a produce box delivery that I had no idea what to do with, but I will make this again if the opportunity presents itself. 1 large yam made a decent side dish for my family of four with two young children. I tossed 3/8″ slices with EVOO I’d heated with a smashed garlic clove, plus salt, pepper and a dash of smoked paprika, in a 1 gal Ziploc per others’ suggestion. 40 mins at 350 did it for my thicker slices. I served drizzle with honey, but would also try adding dabs of goat cheese during baking and perhaps then top with arugula.

It’s similar to roasting asparagus! This was a simple and fast dinner.
