This recipe is a keeper! I had pearl onions on hand that I wanted to use up, so I substituted those for the peppers and onions. I thought it made the dish kind of classy. Otherwise, I made the recipe exactly as is, and my husband took seconds. And then thirds!

This is a very good recipe and so easy in the slow cooker. I used a 12 ounce bag of green beans but used the same measurement for everything else, with the exception of using just a half stick of butter.

These beans were so good! And what an easy recipe. I followed the recipe and cooked 2 hours on high. Beans were just crunchy enough and were delicious. Thanks for this great recipe.

I LOVE these green beans. I didn’t follow it exactly, I used fresh green beans, and did not use the bell pepper/onion as suggested. I used the onion and bacon bits but next time I will use real bacon as someone else suggested. I’ve tried for years to duplicate my grandmother’s green beans which were almost exactly like these, they never turned out the same. I have to say, these were super close, and I am thrilled, they were DELICIOUS! Love the slower cooker, so EASY!

Instead of butter, this dish would be delicious using bacon fat. It adds such a delicious flavor. Whenever I cook green beans, I use bacon fat (amount depends on the amount of green beans you are preparing). and chopped up onions, then season with salt, pepper, and of course a bit of garlic powder.

If you like texture or crunch this is not the recipe for you. Followed the recipe exactly (including the 2 hour cooking) and this was green bean “mush.” This reminded my wife and I of something in a buffet dinner line…over cooked and underwhelming. The flavor was okay but not spectacular.

I made this and served with baked ziti for guests. Nobody even spoke for at least 5 minutes after they served.

To Peaches. The recipes does call for 1/4 cup frozen bell pepper and onion mix. Cant wait for my beans to grow so that I can enjoy this great recipe.

These green beans were absolutely delicious, plus so easy to make! I didn’t have the bacon bits, but I did have regular bacon. I cooked 3 pieces and crumbled that into the slow cooker along with the rest of the ingredients. I tasted these as soon as they were done and they were good; however, I was invited out at the last minute and put them in the refrigerator to be eaten the next day. The next day they had so much more flavor! I guess sitting overnight helped all that flavor to fully develop.

I love an easy “dump” recipe, where you throw all of your ingredients in the pot and “set it and forget it”! A total win on that alone. But the peppers, onions and bacon seal the deal for sure! I was a little concerned that having only butter as the liquid, but it was perfect! I used a garlic pepper seasoning that I had and it was perfect! Thank you for a great recipe!
