Yield: | 1 cocktail |
Ingredients
- 1 ounce vodka
- 2 1/2 ounces Cranberry Granita, recipe follows
- 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2 cups water
- 5 1/2 ounces cranberries, approximately 1 1/2 cups, washed and sorted
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon lime zest
Instructions
- Place all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake until the granita melts completely. Pour into a martini glass and serve immediately.
- Place the water, cranberries and sugar into a small saucepan, set over medium-high heat and simmer until the berries begin to pop, approximately 7 minutes. Remove from the heat. Puree with a stick blender, blender or food processor, for 1 minute. Pass the mixture through a fine mesh strainer directly into a metal 13 by 9-inch pan. Do not press on the skins. Simply allow the juice to drip through the strainer. Add the zest and stir to combine. Place in the freezer until set, at least 6 hours and up to overnight. Once frozen, scrape the mixture with a fork to create a shaved ice texture. Serve immediately.

Question: How many drinks can be made out of one batch of the granita? How many batches should I make to get 8 drinks?
We make this fantastic drink Thanksgiving thru New Years. We make extra cranberry granita, in batches, to have in the freezer for any holiday company. Festive and delicious! Thank you!
Best Christmas drink ever! Next year I will be buying extra cranberries so we can make it all year long! Thanks Alton❤️
Oh yum. This is our 2nd year making these and I bought a lot more cranberries this year for the occasion. These cosmos are sooooooo good, this is now a staple with our Thanksgiving celebration every year. Truly delicious.
This makes a perfect cocktail. We have made made these many times and are always a hit.
I made this recipe for my Thanksgiving feast and it was a sensation, it’s a shame I didn’t make enough! I use vodka, but some family members had it with my homemade sangria. Next time I will make two batches!
I loved it! Martini was awesome as the original recipe. Also had a spoonful of granita in a champagne flute with presecco.
I am sipping this delight as I type. The Granita is wonderful. I added a half ounce of Grand Marnier to make it more of a true cosmo.
Very VERY tasty!!!
Delicious! I will be making this regularly now!
