I am a big fan of most of Guy’s recipes but I must say that this was a bit too sweet for me. I tried reducing the vodka to syrup ratio from 1-1 to (eventually 2-1 and liked it much better. I can only recommend that you start with less syrup and taste it. Figure out the right ratio for you and make it that way. I served them with small pieces of crystalized ginger and that was a nice touch.
Love this! I already do a ginger syrup that is close but with 2 cups peeled ginger and the ginger taste comes out a lot. You can also freeze the syrup and defrost in the microwave so you have it on hand.
I found the drink too sweet and reduced the syrup to 1 oz. Also, I found my syrup did not have enough ginger flavor to stand out in the martini against the lime, so with the second try I muddled a few sliced ginger coins and liked it much better.
Hubby and I bought a martini kit and started experimenting. Several drinks later, this remains the clear winner. Crisp, refreshing and delicious. We do cut the syrup: vodka recipe to 1:2 as it is a touch sweet.
I love the concept but found the drink to be way too sweet. Next time will cut the syrup in half.
This is excellent! I had “lotus blossom martini” at a local restaurant and loved it. Once i got home, I did a search for a ginger martini on the Food Network site. Saw this one and tried it. Perfection!
Zentini, yes is my recipe!!! I created this recipe many years ago for a bartender competition in Lafayette, CA. The Zentini, is very nice cocktail , well balance with sweet, citrus , and great refreshing ginger , mint flavor.. the Yacht club carry this recipe because I worked there for many years. but not only the Yacht Club, Food network and many others restaurant, bar, hotels around the country are using my cocktails recipes, I am a profesional mixologiest.
Thanks
Manny
I used this recipe in my pharmacy tech class to show benefiets of ginger on the body, everyone loved it!!!
I love this martini! It’s a great new drink that seems a little familiar because of the common points with a mojito, and it’s great for summer. The only downside is that I can’t get it when I go out! But, I do get people wanting to come visit more often and ask for it!
Very nice martini. I have been making an almost identical drink myself, since drinking them the last two years at Hukilau Lanai in Kauai.
Good choice Guy!
