This bread tastes great! I eat it for breakfast, dinner or a snack. I made a couple of changes: – an avocado in place of the shortening. I mix it in a food processor or mixer with some of the water – organic wheat that is unbleached. I order it in 25 lb bags to reduce shipping costs. My sister will store a bag in her extra fridge. – mix the yeast with some of the recipe water warmed to 105° and a tablespoon of sugar. set it aside – In a mixer with a dough hook 5 min on low, 15 min wait, 5 min on low or medium, 10 min wait, 5 min on low. Put in a bread pan sprayed with oil. let the dough rise for about 30 minutes or more. – bake it for 35-40 minutes at 350°
Tastes great! Don’t have a bread machine, still came out great. Mixed it with my KitchenAid and let it rest, punched down, place it in loaf pan, rise again. Bake at 350°F for ~25 minutes until golden brown.
Made it three times – already a family favorite!
This is delicious! For a lower calorie version, I used unsweetened applesauce instead of shortening, and it turned out perfectly.
Added some sunflower seeds for crunch. Turned out great
Wonderful bread!
Great. Will make again.
This is literally my family’s go to bread. I have to make it when they are not around otherwise it all gets eaten fresh from the bread maker.
So light and fluffy!
It was relatively close to Cornell Bread. So why not add the wheat germ and go the whole route? That would be my major change, but other than that, it’s a pretty decent bread in texture and taste.
Excellent recipe.I’ve made it several times and it’s a dense, but soft loaf. Delicious as written.
This recipe turned out just perfect
Good recipe. I added a teaspoon of vital wheat gluten and sunflower, flax, sesame, and chia seeds. Came out well.
I made bread for the first time using this recipe. It was delicious. I made grilled cheese and also French toast with it. Definitely a keeper!
I substituted about half of the honey with brown sugar (too much honey bothers my stomach) and the bread is very moist and delicious. However, it got too browned on the outside and seems really dense. I used the regular setting on my machine because it doesn’t have a whole wheat setting.
Followed the recipe turned out well. It is a heavier bread but has good texture and taste. I will make it again.
Delicious! I made it twice in one week! My family ate it up so quickly the first time that I made it again a few days later.
Easy to make Great taste and texture. Will be making it many times.
I just made this bread ?? early this morning for my friend. because we spoke about me having a bread machine. and she asked if I can make whole wheat bread for her. it came out wonderful. the only sad thing is I didn’t get to try it. I almost didn’t gave it to her ??..
1 cup raisins 1/2 cup walnuts 2 Tbl spoons gluten
Very good. I think maple syrup could be used for a sweetener and add a maple flavour to the bread.
