Squash. Love. Us. This straightforward dish highlights the wonderful, somewhat sweet flavor of crookneck or summer squash with just three additional ingredients (aside from salt and pepper). Squash was traditionally stewed by mom, but I don’t add any water because this vegetable releases a lot of water when it cooks. The natural sugars in the onion and the squash are aided in their release by the lengthy, slow simmering. Although you can cook it for less time to make it firmer or add more herbs or seasonings, this is how we prepare it. Squash only.

I made this recipe as is. My berries were frozen from a store and then thawed. Most of the berries were very green so it needed all the sugar. I was not looking for a cobbler with a crumbly crust on the top of the berries. However, the toping was sweet enough to blend with the sour berries and made a good combination. Still not what I wanted and I am still looking for a good cobbler.
I made it frozen mixed berries and it turned out delicious. I would add less sugar. My family loved it but also said it was a bit sweet. I’m going to make with 1 cup of sugar instead of 1 1/2 cups. I made for desert on Thanksgiving and was asked to make it for Christmas.
This was super easy. For me, it was a little too sweet. I’ll make it again and use just a bit less sugar in the berries.
I used lemon cake mix instead of yellow
I made this recipe using peaches instead of berries. I used canned peaches and did not heat them before baking. I just put them in a bowl and add cinnamon i little sugar to taste and a teaspoon or so of flour. mix well. Add the cake mix mixture by the teaspoon. and baked. Came out fantastic. I love this recipe.
I made it, but used 1 cup of sugar instead of a cup and a half. Also used butter instead of margarine. Everyone loved it. Was easy to make!
It was a hit! I will definitely make it again.
I made this with blueberries and pineapple instead of blackberries. I also made one with gluten free cake mix and one with regular cake mix. Only thing I would change is the amount of sugar. It definitely need need as much as the recipe called for. I will make it again, with less sugar!
Used 1/2 cup sugar + 1/2 cup flour with 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/4 tsp nutmeg. Added 1 Tbsp cornstarch to lemon cake mix. Used butter in place margarine.
I made it just as the recipe was written and it turned out great.
Love the taste but when I made it it was runny!

I made this over the fire while camping and everyone LOVED it! Thanks for this one 🙂
this was amazing. I didn’t add the nutmeg but did everything else. it was a smidge juicy but we didn’t mind at all. I will definitely be making this again.
Made this receipe many times with the addition of 1/2 cup nuts sprinkled on top of fruit. Always a winner in our household!

Outstanding recipe, subbed blueberries (on sale) for blackberries. Used sugar free cake mix and splenda – turned out great. I’ll make this again for sure!
Won’t make again. Cake was very dry
I’ve made this with apple pie filling and cherry pie filling. It’s very rich, but that’s what makes dessert!
