Vegan Brownies

Oh, I love vegan brownies! The fact that these brownies are so gooey is a plus in my book. You will need to bake the brownies for a little longer than necessary if you prefer them a little more solid. Excellent for those who have a dairy or egg allergy as well!

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 25 mins
Additional Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 50 mins
Servings: 16
Yield: 16 brownies

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  2. 2 cups white sugar
  3. ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  4. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  5. 1 teaspoon salt
  6. 1 cup water
  7. 1 cup vegetable oil
  8. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Stir together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Pour in water, vegetable oil, and vanilla; mix until well-blended. Spread evenly in the prepared dish.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until top is no longer shiny, 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting into 16 squares.

Crumbled and couldn’t cut, far too oily

Cooked for abt 30 mins pretty yummy I will say a lot of oil may have made it verry goey but over all had a nice top on it and was verry tasty I’d recommend reducing the oil in it and maybe substituting with apple sauce

So easy ! So delicious! It had to cook 20 minutes ish past the suggested cooking time for the toothpick to come out clean .. but best recipe yet !

I’m gutted to say I tried these, followed the recipie and they were super oiley. Way too much oil in the recipie and inedible.

Just made these and they are delicious. I used a half a cup of oil and half cup of apple sauce to reduce the fat I added an extra quarter cup of cocoa, but it may not be necessary. I will make these again. Thanks for the recipe.

Great recipe! I was the only one who needed vegan but everyone loved them. Cooked it for 30 minutes and came out perfectly – moist on the inside, dry on top.

Made these subbing out regular flour for Bobs 1-1 ratio Gluten Free Flour & adding vegan chocolate chips. I do wish the chocolate flavour was a little bit stronger but I will add more cocoa next time ! scooped them into muffin liners and naked 350 degrees on high fan for 12 minutes in my works ovens and they were perfect and gooey

These brownies are really yummy. They happen to be a little cakey though. I followed the recipe except I added cinnamon used milk instead of water and I did as another commenter said, about using 1/4 cup of oil and 3/4 cup of applesauce. They are extremely moist, which is perfect because I love moist cupcakes. I even added powdered sugar on top. I did think that the mix was a little liquify for brownies after mixing, so I ended up adding more flower, which might have been why they ended up a little cakey. It’s definitely a recipe I’ll play with a little. I’ve been craving vegan sweets!

Ive been making this version for years and it never gets old!!! I actually put 1 cup of sugar ( instead of 2) to make it diabetic friendly for friends and family. I also like to add a little more choc powder. Instead of icing, I like to add no/low sugar peanut butter. The texture is perfect ✨

The brownies came out really well. Only one question, do the brownies turn gooey while chewing ?

These brownies were delicious and moist! I too tweaked it a little. I used coffee vs water, oil and unsweetened applesauce (1/4 cup oil and 1/2 cup applesauce) and i used a little less sugar because I don’t like brownies to be too sweet. Overall, this is a really good quick recipe , especially when you have a taste fir a brownie or anything sweet. This recipe definitely satisfies that craving and hits the spot. Hope this helps!

Followed the recipe and these are not good at all. Baker beware! Go find another recipe!

I loved it. I replaced the vegetable oil with coconut oil and added some vegan chocolate chips and it was AMAZING!

I made this and I followed the recipe to the exact measurements, degrees, and timing. So tell me why when I put my brownies in the oven and came back to check on them, they were boiling. now I wasted all of that time and broke several promises saying that I would provide vegan brownies for Christmas.

Really oily! the taste was amazing, but i believe i cooked it in the top rack so the middle didn’t cook properly, or the tooth pick got out clean because of the oil!
Megan Richards
Made it exactly as the recipe directed. I use Dominican style vanilla that adds a nice flavor and dark cocoa powder. Yum!

The brownie was too oily and tasted like bad brownie from a gas station. A person will definitely have made a major adjustment to make these brownies toleratable. But this recipe is great to start experimenting with such as adding less oil and more cocoa power, etc, etc for any young baker wanting to learn from their mistakes.

I’m vegan and my husband is not. He LOVES brownies and these are his favorite. They are delicious!

i literally made this account just to leave this review. i don’t know what is up with this recipe but I made it and baked it for the recommended amount of time and it came out with a nice crispy top with pure liquid inside. please make any other brownie.
