Ingredients

  1. 1 cup packed brown sugar
  2. 1/2 cup half-and-half or heavy cream (cream will make it thicker)
  3. 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
  4. Caviar (seeds) scraped from 1 vanilla pod
  5. Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Put the brown sugar, half-and-half, butter, vanilla seeds and salt in a medium saucepan over medium-low to medium heat. Cook, whisking gently, until the mixture thickens, 5 to 7 minutes.
  2. Serve warm or refrigerate until cold. If the sauce is too thin, just continue cooking for a few more minutes.
