Yield: | 32 meatballs |
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ pounds ground turkey
- ¼ teaspoon poultry seasoning
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- 1 large egg, beaten
- ¼ cup milk
- ½ cup plain bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup canned jellied cranberry sauce
- ½ cup orange marmalade
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon minced jalapeno pepper
- 1 tablespoon minced Fresno pepper
- 1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Mix the turkey, poultry seasoning, garlic salt, onion powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and cayenne pepper together in a bowl. Stir in the egg, milk, and bread crumbs. Cover with plastic and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Heat olive oil in skillet over medium heat. Roll the turkey mixture into balls, about one tablespoon each. Place the meatballs in a single layer in the skillet. Brown meatballs on all sides, flipping occasionally. Place browned meatballs on a clean baking sheet. Set aside.
- Combine cranberry sauce, marmalade, and chicken broth over medium heat in the skillet used to cook the meatballs. Stir in the jalapeno and Fresno peppers, then return meatballs to skillet. Reduce heat to medium-low, and continue to cook until the meatballs are no longer pink in the center and glaze is reduced. Season with salt and pepper.

I liked this recipe a lot. It’s not over the top fancy, but it’s certainly popular among guests. They may not oooh and aaah over this, but they will definitely have seconds. And, it’s so simple to put together that it is a welcome addition to your appetizer spread. I doubled the batch and froze the par-cooked meatballs for the next holiday potluck that is surely coming ’round — that way I’ll be ready. Thanks (again) Chef John!
Chef, these are awesome! They don’t need one tweak. Super delicious. Thank you so much for sharing 🙂
This is delicious! I made it the first time and liked it. I added extra poultry seasoning and cayenne second time and Loved it! Family gobbles them up!
Delicious! I liked it so much I may use this recipe for turkey burgers as well for a less time-consuming version.
I made these for New Year’s Eve out of ground pork instead of turkey only because I don’t care for turkey. I didn’t have any ground chicken on hand. The sauce thickened up beautifully, glazing them, just as I’d hoped. These were a big hit and I’ll definitely be making them again. Thank you for sharing!
I found them to be way to sweet.
I didn’t have the poultry seasoning for the recipe. And didn’t add the jalapeño peppers. I made them a little larger and served with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans.
It was fun and easy. Tasted so great. I got 96% lean turkey from Walmart. It tasted like I was taking a bite of my turkey dinner with the taste of cranberry’s with a hint of spiciness. I did not put in the jalapenos or chili’s but I did add some olive oil impregnated with jalapenos, so definitely tasted the jalapeno! Everyone loved them. Thank you so much. I plan to try several of your other recipes. Your videos are fun to watch and very educational for a novice cook.
Super easy! Everyone loved them!!
love this recipe! all though the “ready in 35 mins” is a bit deceptive since you have to let em sit for an hour lol. I made these for a church potluck today, I did like a triple batch, and it was GONE. people had nothing but great things to say about em. definitely saving the recipe
This is a great party appetizer and super easy to make. I didn’t change a thing and they were delicious! My family loved them.
I made this recipe and it was a hit at our annual pig pickin. The only change I made was adding additional jalapeños for heat
Made this twice for Euchre night. It was a hit. Definitely will be making this again.
I made the meatballs, very tasty, and froze them for a party to come.
I made a couple of changes by substituting ground Pork for Turkey as it was Christmas and we had turkey on the table for dinner. I also omitted the bread crumbs (fewer carbs) and everyone absolutely loved them. A double batch lasted less than 10 minutes
I made these for a new years day gathering. They were a big hit! I made according to directions as best I could but had to make a couple changes due to not having a couple ingredients. I used apple jelly in place of orange marmelade, skipped the fresnos and used only jalepeno peppers, and I rolled the meatballs in flour before browning in olive oil. I mixed the meat and seasonings and crushed ritz and milk (I only had panko crumbs) and left in the fridge overnight. I browned the meatbalss and simmered in the sauce right before putting in a crockpot for our gathering. Delicious!
Probably won’t make again, too sweet.
Sadly, I had to omit both the cayenne and the chili peppers because my husband can’t eat them. The heat would have suited my tastes much better, but when family members can’t eat spicy food, they can’t eat spicy food. Without the peppers, my husband loved them, but they were just meh for me. With the peppers, I would have loved them, but my husband wouldn’t have been able to eat it at all. So 4 stars is an average to reflect both our tastes.
After reading the reviews, I couldn’t believe people changed the recipe so much it wasn’t even the same and then gave theirs a rave review. One gal even used frozen store brought meatballs and changed the sauce recipe as well. Please readers either follow the recipe or don’t give it a bad review. It was wonderful as written!!
Tangy with a slight bite of jalapeno! Interesting and unique.
I bought the meatballs and made the sauce. It was great! and well liked.
