Loved this recipe. I made it for myself, husband and daughter. They loved it as well. Will definitely make again. Recipe was spot on.
Love this recipe it is one of our go tos. We like to add kidney beans (drained and rinsed) to the recipe to round out the flavor.
Easy and good.
This was easy and quick! Great flavor in the beef. I added some Frank’s Red Hot to the sauce for some zip! I would make it again! Cheers
Big hit in my house. Have made using onion flakes instead of fresh onion and always make sure to use the leaves of the celery if you have it. Great to eat with chips when you run out of buns!
Love this recipe. Simple yet really tasty.
I’ve had this re open for a long time. It’s missing a cup of water at the end to meld all the flavors together! Someone made a mistake. Add the water and you will like it! Sherry
First time I made this, it was too dry and rather bland. So today, going to try 1 lb beef, but everything else the same. Except store didn’t have celery, so subbing an orange bell pepper plus celery powder.
perfect mix. added a little cayenne pepper.
This was pretty good, but too sweet. I followed the recipe, but next time I will make changes. Specifically, no brown sugar. The ketchup is sweet enough. I will add some red pepper flakes to give it a little spice.
Perfect!! So much better than Manwich.
This really is an excellent ‘sloppy joe’ recipe. When I was directing student council, we made this for the whole staff, and had several people asking for recipe. I’ve always thought vinegar is a secret ingredient in good sloppy joes. The only thing I did slightly different was chop the onion and celery in my Ninja so picky people wouldn’t complain about big chunks of onion or celery. I also think letting it sit overnight and reheating it makes it still better.
this is my absolute GO TO recipe for feeding a crowd. Measure on the generous side for the sauce to keep the meat from drying out.
This was an easy recipe to prepare. The only thing I did differently was to make a lot more sauce; the original recipe was very dry – only meat. I actually quadrupled the recipe for the sauce, and it was perfect! Will definitely make again!
So quick and easy and tasty! I didn’t have onion so I used onion powder and I added more ketchup!
these are delicious!! Was going to make burgers , the meat didn’t defrost, so I decided to try this recipe, wasn’t sure I’d like it, well we love them, something different and so good I even ate 2, my husband ate about 5! These are a keeper.
I made it in the instapot and added tomato paste & peppers and reduced the amount of sugar. Next time I’ll add more onion. It was good!
Better than manwich, I only need to cut back on the brown sugar since some people (my teen) don’t like it as sweet.
We found this recipe a couple of years ago and it’s a family favorite. No one minds leftovers!!
I made this with 1-1/3 lb of 93/7 ground beef (no need to drain grease, but still enough to cook veggies). I followed the recipe, scaled for less meat, & followed a few reviews. I replaced the celery with green pepper & added a can (14.5 oz) of diced tomatoes (juice & all), when it was looking too dry. I simmered it a bit longer, to absorb/cook-off the tomato juices. This was THE BEST Sloppy Joe I’ve ever eaten! Even my picky wife agreed! Thank you!!! I’ll be making this FOREVER!!!
Love this recipe! It’s hard to find recipes that don’t use any kind of peppers (that my body just doesn’t like) and still have great flavor.
