Thai Spicy Tuna Lettuce Wraps

  4.6 – 5 reviews

These lettuce wraps, which are a tasty appetizer, are prepared with canned tuna, chili peppers, Thai basil, and cilantro. If you wish to serve them as a lighter main course, increase the serving size. Nobody will ever be able to tell that they were made with tuna in a can, according to my family.

Prep Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 20 mins
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  1. 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
  2. 2 teaspoons mayonnaise
  3. 1 teaspoon Asian red chili paste (sambal)
  4. 3 (5 ounce) cans Bumble Bee® Solid White Albacore Tuna in Water, drained
  5. ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  6. ¼ cup chopped Thai basil
  7. ¼ cup red bell pepper, diced
  8. ¼ cup diced red onion
  9. 1 medium carrot, shredded
  10. 6 green onions, chopped, divided
  11. 1 medium jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
  12. 4 teaspoons sesame oil
  13. 3 teaspoons Asian red chili paste (sambal)
  14. 2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds
  15. 2 teaspoons sugar
  16. 1 teaspoon salt
  17. ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  18. 1 medium lime, juiced
  19. 1 clove garlic, minced
  20. 3 cups gourmet salad greens
  21. 1 teaspoon chopped fresh cilantro (Optional)
  22. 1 teaspoon chopped Thai basil (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the spicy mayo: Mix Sriracha, mayonnaise, and sambal together in a small bowl. Refrigerate until needed.
  2. Make the lettuce wraps: Empty drained tuna into a large bowl. Break up tuna into large chunks. Add 1/2 cup cilantro, 1/4 cup basil, bell pepper, onion, carrot, 2/3 of the green onions, and jalapeño pepper; gently mix to combine, being careful not to break tuna apart too much.
  3. Whisk sesame oil, sambal, sesame seeds, sugar, salt, pepper, lime juice, and garlic together in a small bowl. Pour dressing over tuna mixture and mix carefully.
  4. Spoon tuna mixture onto lettuce leaves and drizzle spicy mayo over top. Garnish with remaining green onions, cilantro, and basil.
  5. Use Thai chile peppers instead of jalapeño for a bit more spicy flavor.

both my husband i found it dry.. I added much more mayo and that helped. I might try adding more lime juice next time.

Super easy to make – quick, the only thing I did was adjust the chili paste. Personal preference of not as spicy. DEF making again

I thought I had reviewed this before. This is excellent! I followed the directions and can not think of a change I could or would make. For those who do not like heat, you could cut back on the Jalapeno, but I love spice and heat.
