Ground turkey replaces the beef in my mother’s traditional beef tacos. Because there is no grease to deal with, these are considerably healthier, simpler, and quicker, and I believe they also taste better.

Really enjoyed these tacos. Had an authentic taste. Would make these again.
My family loved it. Was a great lighter version from Beef. Well definitely make on repeat
Absolutely loved it! We made lettuce wrap tacos with all of the fixings and added a delicious chipotle sauce to spice it up even more. This recipe is a keeper!
These are delicious. A small can of tomato sauce is all you need. If you add water you will have to allow it to cook down to the correct consistency. It calls for 1 & 1/2 lbs of turkey so if you are making this w/ 1 lb, it’s no wonder it’s soupy for some of you. And the recipe calls for corn tortillas. The person who complained about flour tortillas must not have read the recipe as written. One tip: make your own taco mix. Much better than the packets & it’s easy to make.
My husband really liked these, and I did also. I substituted a can of diced fire roasted tomatoes with green chilis for the tomato sauce. I had a little left over tomato sauce from spaghetti, so I threw that in to thicken it a little. When we assembled the tacos, we added diced jalapeños and guacamole. Yum! Even when I modify a recipe, if I like the starter ingredients, I give it a good rating, since most cooks modify according to their family’s tastes and they ingredients they have on hand. When a recipe is flexible and still turns out well, it deserves a good rating. Thanks for the recipe!
So simple to make and absolutely fantastic. Will definitely make again!
YUM!!!
We use ground beef. It’s easy to make and consistently good.
Loved it but I added Adobo Sauce Chipotle Peppers and cut off the stems for heat. I prefer spicy, I also added avadaco as a topping. If your counting calories like I’m am to lose weight this meal is a fine alternative to going out to eat. Also I made taco seasoning instead of buying it so I can adjust the salt. So far I lost 25 pounds in 2 months instead of going out to eat like I normally would with Mexican food.
yum yum good
Great taste, not a lot of grease.Thank you for this great recipe
This was good! Made as directed and simmered down nicely. Added diced jalapeños instead of diced chili’s. Packed just enough heat. Would make these again.
Delicious! I also used corn tocos I made mine a salad and my husband ate his straight up
Hi all, this is my recipe. I noticed that there are some questions, so I have some answers. First of all, I would NEVER use flour tortillas for tacos . Please use corn tortillas, secondly, I allow my meat to simmer on medium low heat for about 30 minutes after I pour in the tomato sauce and water, and lastly, I like to use the yellow can of el pato tomato sauce, it gives this recipe quite a kick. Hope this helps with some of the confusion.
Really good! I added avocado slices on the taco and my husband added spicy guacamole. Yum!
Awesome!!
This was delicious! I goofed and didn’t have tomato sauce, so I used a can of diced tomatoes instead. It was like regular tacos with a boost.
Excellent! I didn’t add the water and it as just as good for my tastes. Next time I’ll remember to put on the olives. :s
Super Yummy!!
Maybe it was the turkey but I also didn’t like the tomato sauce. Just a very strong gamey flavor. Just not for me.
Made with 6 oz tomato paste and filled can with water instead of 8oz. of water
