An wonderful recipe for yeast buns that may be used to make dinner rolls or hamburger buns. They are quick to make and have never let me down.

Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
Additional Time: 45 mins
Total Time: 1 hr 20 mins
Servings: 12
Yield: 12 buns

Ingredients

  1. 4 cups all-purpose flour, divided, or more as needed
  2. 2 (.25 ounce) packages dry yeast
  3. 1 cup milk
  4. ¾ cup water
  5. ½ cup vegetable oil
  6. ¼ cup white sugar
  7. 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Stir 2 cups flour and yeast together in a large bowl. Heat milk, water, oil, sugar, and salt together in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave until lukewarm; add to flour mixture and beat until smooth, about 3 minutes.
  2. Mix in 2 cups remaining flour, then add up to 1 cup more flour as necessary to make a soft dough. Dust a flat surface with flour; turn dough out onto floured surface and let rest under a bowl for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, lightly grease a baking sheet.
  3. Shape dough into 12 slightly flat balls and place on the prepared baking sheet to rise until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes.

Made them twice and they do the work. Not great but it doesn’t need alot of things that is nice. Make these every time I’m out of things. But better the next time

Lovely buns. I’ve now made these a few times. My go to for burger buns.

Did not come out dense. Easy to make. Does not fall apart with all of the condiments on it. Will do it again.

Real good for eating with stew or chili

Secret >>> Add sugar to warm water & milk 70F/20C stir in YEAST. Wait 15 mins for yeast to activate then add oil, salt & flour in bowl. When you kneed the buns about the size of golf balls, let them rise again for 30 mins. in warm covered area. They will double in size and are ready for 15 mins in oven @ 400F.

First time making these and loved them! Followed the recipe and they weren’t dense at all. Was the perfect texture of light and fluffy and not too dense. Perfect for any buns or rolls. Will def make again.

I use this recipe for pepperoni rolls I make with my kitchen aid mixer and roll it out with my pasta attachment… they’re a hit everywhere I take them

I accidentally forgot to add the salt, but they still turned out good. They were pretty bland alone, but with a burger and condiments we couldn’t tell.

I used this recipe to the letter. The only thing I added was 1/2 tsp of baking soda and sprinkled some Italian seasoning on the top the buns

Very easy recipe. This was the first time I used this recipe and I didn’t change a thing. Needless to say there should have been 12 buns but my husband grabbed one before I could take a picture. This has made it to the top of my list for making hamburger buns whenever I need them.

It’s a little on the sweet side, for my tastes, but that’s easily remedied. Good recipe, easy to follow. I also added a bit less oil, it sounded like a lot to me.

This recipe was good, the only change I made was add a little bit of honey to it, these are very dense buns for hamburgers otherwise I would give it a 5 star rating

My whole family loves these. So tender. I make hotdog and hamburger buns. I scale to 8, add all ingredients to my bread machine and run a quick dough cycle. When complete I divide into 8 to 10 buns, let rise and bake. So so good.
