The kids will enjoy this because it is quick and simple. Serve with the remaining sour cream, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. For more zing, add salsa!

Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound ground beef
  2. ¾ cup water
  3. 1 package taco seasoning mix
  4. 1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
  5. 8 ounces sour cream, divided
  6. 2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent rolls

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Mix water and taco seasoning mix into ground beef; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until water is evaporated, 10 to 15 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  3. Mix ground beef mixture, 1/2 of the Cheddar cheese, and 1/2 of the sour cream together in a bowl.
  4. Roll crescent roll dough out onto a baking stone in the shape of a sunflower, with the triangle points pointing outward. Spread ground beef mixture onto dough in a circular shape. Wrap pointed end of dough around the beef mixture, sealing to the other end of dough making a ring-shape.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 25 minutes. Serve alongside the remaining Cheddar cheese and sour cream.

Turned out great. I added refried beans and put a layer down before the ground beef to make it more filling.

I added an onion when browning the ground beef. We loved it and will definitely make it again.

Easy recipe and as my picture shows, the fellas devour it! I add a little mild salsa to the mix and then place in the ring to bake. About 1/2 cup. Yummy!

I was looking for a recipe that did not use cream cheese. Husband is not a fan. I was amazed at how simple this was to make. You can serve any number of toppings with this dish to make it a complete meal. I used 93/7% ground beef and still had grease. I will rinse the meat after browning the next time I make it. The bottom of the rolls were a little doughy, next time I will place the pizza stone in the oven while it is preheating just to warm up the stone. I used 2 tablespoons Taco Seasoning 1 from this website and added 1 tablespoon as thickener. I also made and used Chef John’s Creme Fraiche recipe from this site. Thanks for a great recipe to satisfy our taco cravings!

I’ve made this recipe many times. In my book, it’s a winner; easy to make. As to the comment about being too greasy, I always brown my hamburger first and then rinse it under water in a colander. Then transfer it back to the fry pan and add seasonings. Voila! No grease.

Delicious, put a bowl of shredded lettuce in the middle and shredded cheese on top of the ring and it makes a good party platter for football season.
