Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups apricot nectar
- ⅓ cup chopped dried apricots
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 (3/4 pound) salmon filet without skin
Instructions
- Preheat your oven’s broiler, and grease a broiling pan.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, mix together the apricot nectar, dried apricots, honey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, cinnamon and cayenne. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until reduced by about half. Stir occasionally to prevent burning. Remove 1/4 cup of the glaze for basting, and set the remaining aside.
- Place the salmon filet on the greased broiling pan, and brush with glaze. Broil 3 inches from the heat for 8 to 12 minutes, or until salmon flakes easily with a fork. Gently turn over once during cooking, and baste frequently during the last 4 minutes. Serve with remaining glaze.

I was actually disappointed with this dish. I love apricots but they tasted “off” with the salmon. There wasn’t enough heat so everyone had to add hot peppers to their plates
Excellent ! Served to family ranging from child to grandparent. The glaze was as promised. I used some leftover glaze on a subsequent chicken dinner and again, it delivered. Highly recommended!
Easy, delish, I usually fuss with a recipe but I followed it to the letter and it was wonderful!
This was super yummie. I didn’t have the apricot so I used maple syrup. I didn’t cook it down as long. Super yummie, sticky……next time I might add a little more cayenne, because we like it spicy. This would be great on pork loin or chicken.
Very easy and we loved the sauce. I couldn’t find apricot nectar, so I followed the suggestion of others and used 1 cup of apricot preserves and 1/2 cup of water. I had left the skin on the salmon and broiled it on only one side but I think it would be better to cook it as written, skinless so it can be flipped to cook more evenly.
Absolutely delicious! I couldn’t find apricot nectar so did as another reviewer and mixed half cup apricot preserves and a half cup water. I also accidentally bought skin on salmon. The glaze/sauce was perfect and served it all over rice.
It was good, but I didn’t think it was worth the effort involved in preparing this.
So good! I followed e directions as written. Everyone loved it.
The only difference I would add is to make extra sauce to go with my rice.
Perfect balance of salty and sweet. The cooked apricot pieces are extra delicious
No changes made might put a tad bit more cayenne next time. Will make again. It would be great on chicken also.
I used a cup of fresh apricots and 1 cup apricot nectar
Wonderfu! I have been trying different recipes for salmon, because it is not my favorite fish. But this would make me eat salmon more often. Thank you for the recipe! I did not have apricot nectar, so I did what one of the other reviewer did. I used 1 cup of apricot preserves (sugar-free) and 1/2 cup of water. It was perfect! My husband doesn’t normally like sweet or fruit in his food but he really like this.
It was very good.
Substituted apricot preserves. Still came out really good. Nice addition to my salmon rotation.
outstanding. made it according to recipe. flavor was incredible. highly recommend.
I’ve been searching for a salmon recipe and I ‘ve finally found it. Perfect.
Unfortunately I could not make the salmon according to the recipe as we are in a condo for the winter in another city and did not have all the ingredients. I had to suibstitue. I did buy dried apricots but used some apricot juice. I cannot remember now what else I used but it was delicious.
Turned out good. I used about 1/2 cup apricot preserves and about a cup of water….I’m not a fan of cayenne so used chipotle. I simmer for just over thirty minutes to thicken, but that was okay because I started it way early. It was a little sweet and a little spicy, nothing over the top…but nice. I would probably do this again for a variety to our salmon. Thank you for sharing!
Made as printed. Tasty and eaten goodies as leftovers. I would make this again.
I know it’s annoying when people do their own thing and review dishes, but I feel like this was an amazing recipe that could work well even if you did a variation of the ingredients called for. I used about a cup of apricot preserves as well as some extra jam I had in the fridge as well as red pepper flakes for 2 1/2 pounds of salmon filets- it was plenty 🙂 Just add more/less of ingredients you know you will love. After boiling it down to a saucy glaze I followed the cooking directions as stated and this was wonderful. This will replace my old go-to salmon recipe!!
