For practically any chocolate dish, this chocolate sauce makes a superb hot fudge topping. When my mother sent me this recipe, she included a note that read, “Use this sauce over brownies and vanilla ice cream to make a delicious dessert.” I loved it while I was in college.

I was not able to source 100% of the items on the ingredient list (shopping in the times of Covid) but I had enough of the right things apparently because the result was a hit. Dish is a delicious combo of sweet and tangy. As far as substituting, I used whatever different-color canned beans available at the store, some in random gravies. I used actual onions, garlic and mustard instead of powder. Instead of sweet & sour sauce, I used Heinz 57 & Thai sweet chili sauce. It worked! I will add this to my potluck rotation.
This is a mouth watering recipe for beans that I will definitely make again. So easy in the crockpot. Thanks for sharing !
This recipe was very good…. I used one 28-oz can of baked beans, one 14-oz can of maple baked beans, and one 14-oz can of red kidney beans, simply because that’s what I had on hand. I added chopped onion, chopped yellow and green peppers, and a bit of green onion, as well.I did not bother cooking in a slow-cooker….I just made it on my stove. After the bacon & ground beef was cooked (which I had to do on the stove anyway) it was just a matter of heating/ simmering at a low temperature in my Dutch oven pot for approximately 30 minutes. This will make a great camping recipe….I plan to make it at home to take with us. Makes a large quantity and everyone in my family loved it!
This has been a favorite of mine for a long time. A friend of mine was going to make this for a party I planned but needed to cancel due to COVID-19 crisis. I have been craving since then so when I received an email from All-Recipes and was at home I decided to make it! My dish received rave reviews!
I have made better bean recipes. These are not sweet enough for our taste and were too thick.
This is an excellent recipe. My families go to for baked beans. Fun to doctor this one up to customize.
I love this recipe and it is my go to for baked beans. I do not use the honey garlic sauce, just add some honey and garlic to the beans, and I also add about 1/2tsp chili pepper flakes to give it some heat.
I have made these several times now and I always get asked for the recipe
Made this with my students, it was easy for them to follow the recipe and they all loved it! Served it at our end of year family BBQ and it was a hit
Everyone LOVED this recipe.! I use turkey bacon as the meat to be a side dish for Ribs and it was just right. Of course pork bacon would be better. I added the ground beef later in the week for wonderful main dish with salad.
Great recipe. Made just as directed. If you are going to make a bunch of changes or give your recipe in the reviews, SUBMIT YOUR OWN RECIPE! !!
I made this for the first time and took it to a 4th of July party. I had several people ask me for the recipe and I just referred them to All Recipes website with the name of the dish. I think people thought that it was an old recipe I had made several times but I’ve just started cooking since I retired. Thanks All Recipes!
My family loved these beans and said they were the best they ever tasted.
I added 1 extra can of baked beans and a little more brown sugar. I couldn’t find sweet and sour sauce in my local store so I substituted Hawaiian marinade. The beans were a real crowd pleaser at a party for 20 tonight. I will definitely fix it again. Jeanne
I made this, minus the honey garlic, it was to hard to find! Anyways, I made this with a 14lb brisket, and it was AWESOME!!! Going to make it again this summer.
Best choice for summer times
Delicious!!!!!
its a great recipe
A pleasant change to the old time baked beans. Great change to an old favorite of our family.
I made these and they turned out delicious!
Believe it or not I enjoyed them better the following day
