Ingredients
- 1 pound pork loin, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder
- ¼ cup vegetable oil, divided, or as needed
- ½ red bell pepper, cut into bite-sized pieces
- ½ yellow bell pepper, cut into bite-sized pieces
- ½ orange bell pepper, cut into bite-sized pieces
- ½ red onion, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 cup chopped broccoli
- 1 cup fresh pineapple, cut into bite-size chunks
- ¼ cup sweet and sour sauce
Instructions
- Place pork in a bowl, season with Chinese five-spice powder and mix well.
- Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a wok over high heat; stir-fry pork until slightly pink in the center, about 5 minutes; remove pork to a plate. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 145 degrees F (63 degrees C).
- Add remaining 2 tablespoons oil to wok as needed; stir-fry red, orange, and yellow bell peppers with onion and garlic until crisp-tender, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in broccoli and pineapple; stir-fry for 3 minutes more.
- Stir pork and sweet and sour sauce into wok; stir-fry until pineapple is lightly browned, about 2 minutes.

Excellent. Just two small adjustments: I didn’t have Chinese 5-Spice, so I used a combination of ground cayenne pepper, ground cinnamon, ground cloves and Emeril’s Essence. I didn’t measure; I just added each & mixed until it looked like enough & smelled right (sweet/savory/spicy). I also used just red bell pepper, red onion and pineapple with the pork, based on what I had on hand. My husband and I both loved it served over white rice. Will definitely make again.
we really enjoyed this recipe, but found that the five spice powder was over powering. Will make this again but without the five spice.
I left out the onion and broccoli and replaced with bok choy, I served over Rice. It was very delicious.
I will not make it again. The pork was very tough, it was way too sweet. My husband who will eat almost anything wouldn’t eat it. I followed the directions except for the Chinese 5 spice because I do not like licorice. I
Colorful and delicious! This recipe is easy and has wonderful flavors. I didn’t have Chinese Five Spice or Sweet & Sour Sauce on hand so with a quick search, I made both from scratch. (Which was also easy to do.) There is nothing I would change about this recipe.
Simple and tasty, I wouldn’t change a thing! Many thanks CookingWithSheila!
Thank you yes I would recommend this dish. It’s very easy to make!
