This recipe was simple and delicious. Only one change. In stead of regular butter I used garlic butter. Omg it came out perfect.

These are my go to mashed potatoes. Follow the recipe exactly just add some liquid crab boil for some heat..delicious!!

Terrific taste and texture, paired with Guinness Beef Stew recipe the combination is phenominal. My suggestion is to hold back 10% of the liquid and add as required to make the Mash consistency that you prefer.

Suzy’s (not garlic, not onion, not rosemary, etc.) mashed red potatoes were good as is! Thank you for sharing.

Basic, easy & tasty for 6, rather than 8. I feel it could be just as tasty with WAY less butter. 4-stars because the recipe calls for a STICK of butter, where most call for a few tablespoons. Try it with less.

I thought these were pretty good. I had to cook them quite a bit longer than recommended, but I think that might be because of my potatoes, not the recipe. I love little additions that reviewers add to recipes, but I made these the same as the recipe says. The base, without salt or pepper, is a bit bland (of course), so I added quite a bit of each, and, because I still thought something was missing, I added some garlic powder (in lieu of the real stuff) to my helping (other’s don’t like garlic, so the rest is still unseasoned in that regard). Thus, I think these are pretty good mashed potatoes, but not the best because of the lack of garlic. One might also want to heat up the cold ingredients before mixing together.

Delicious and super easy! Served with the Easy Meatloaf recipe, some cornbread and pinto beans. My husband and nephew LOVED it! Didn’t change a thing, made these exactly like the recipe. Will definitely be making again!

Delicious! This is a simple and tasty recipe. Turned out great for my first time making mashed potatoes from scratch! Tweaks: I scaled the recipe up for 5 pounds of potatoes, and the ratios for the butter and sour cream were spot on still. I was hesitant to put that much milk in as I like my potatoes nice and thick so I added it a little at a time, and I only used about 2/3 cup of milk (recipe ratio would have been 1.25 cups) so that’s one of those things that doesn’t scale linearly. I also scaled up the time that I cooked the potatoes to 30 minutes as I had a lot more potatoes to cook and some of them were kind of large.

I followed the recipe exactly and they came out perfectly and were a huge hit with the family. Thank you.

Delicious, reminded me of the potatoes my mom makes. The skins make it that much better. May top it with bacon bits next time cooking this recipe.
Frances Brown
Loved them but would use 1/2 the milk & butter next time, they were a bit on the runny side even after a bit more heat afterwards.

I tried to make it exactly as called for, except that I had to use full fat Greek yogurt because I didn’t have any sour cream. I also had 3 pounds of potatoes, so I scaled the recipe up. We found it to be just a teeny bit too rich for us, which is easily solvable by adding a bit less butter next time. This is a personal preference, not a flaw in the recipe. Keeping in mind also that I did use high quality unsalted Irish butter, so maybe that bumped up the richness factor. I salted my potato water generously and also added some salt near the end to taste. less than 1/2 tsp probably.
