Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
- 3 cups puffed rice cereal
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 8 ounces white chocolate pieces or white coating chocolate
- 1/4 cup colored decorating sugar or sprinkles
- Special equipment: 1 dozen 5-inch lollipop sticks
Instructions
- In a large pot over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Add the marshmallows, stirring to coat with the butter. Continue to stir and cook until the marshmallows have completely melted. Remove from the heat and stir in the rice cereal and lemon zest. Mix until the cereal is completely coated.
- Using a scant 1/4 cup measure, roll the rice and marshmallow mixture into golf ball-size balls. Be sure to compress the cereal mixture tightly. Skewer a lollipop stick through the center of the ball. Repeat with remaining mixture and sticks.
- Melt the chocolate over a double boiler. Dip each cake pop into the melted chocolate. Remove and allow any excess to drip off, spinning slightly, to coat completely. Stick the pops into a piece of floral foam or a bowl full of rice to stand upright so that the chocolate can set up slightly. Let sit 5 minutes. Dip the top half of each pop into the sprinkles. Place the sticks back in the foam or rice and place in the refrigerator to set up completely, or allow to set for several hours at room temperature.

Stupidities recipe in the world always fall apart a waste of time and money I would rather go to Starbucks and buy one!!!
I’m currently making this treat, so far I have had to use my hands to mold each ball, I’m making them a bit larger than golf ball. Dipping my hands in water between each mold helped with the stickiness. I also have them in the freezer due to falling apart so quickly. I’m making them ahead of time so my kids can decorate them once home from school.
i used regular treat recipe and let pops set overnite. They turned out great grandkids really loved them.
IT’S GREAT LOVED IT
Falling apart!
Hi Chef Sandy, I tried these out last week and they were a big hit at my daughter’s birthday party! I ended up coating all of the pops in grain sugar then powdered sugar and all the kids went nuts over them! Kept them very busy while the adults had cocktail time!
this recipe was awful, my 7 yr old is so disappointed we were making some for halloween(pumpkins out of them with orange chocolate, and pumpkin faces and they are falling apart like crazy! very, very disappointed in this recipe!
The taste was great (chocolate and rice crispies yum. However the execution was a mess for me. You really have to make the ball shapes really really tight and freeze them first. Otherwise once you add the chocolate the sheer weight of it made them fall off….
Really easy and fun. (Please put pictures on the website though, please. :-
