- Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Dip the sandwiches into the egg mixture, 2 or 3 at a time, and place in the skillet.
- Cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3 minutes per side.
- Transfer pan-fried sandwiches to a baking sheet and place in the preheated oven to keep warm while cooking remaining sandwiches.
- To serve, top French toast with warm strawberry glaze and sliced fresh strawberries and sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream.

Very good…Family love it
We absolutely loved this! I used powdered sugar instead of regular sugar. I also added a little lemon juice, strawberry flavor and red food coloring to my strawberries. I also used frozen strawberries that I put in the microwave for two minutes first so they were nice and mushy as well as juicy! I added a little vanilla to my eggs and milk then added some extra eggs once I was done dipping on it to make scrambled eggs and made sausage links to go with everything. I made everything dairy casein free! Perfection! Will definitely make it again with strawberries and other fruit!
Outstanding! I made this for brunch for my family. Everyone loved it and went back for seconds. Definitely a keeper!
This was a delicious breakfast/desert dish. The vanilla cream cheese was perfect. The only problem I encountered was that the strawberry sauce overpowered the taste of the cream cheese. I will definitely make this dish again. I know my grandsons will love it. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Followed the recipe exactly. Sweetness was perfect. Strawberry glaze was ok. The middle of the sandwich was a bit soggy. I had a lot of egg and cream cheese left so I made some regular French toast, spread the cream cheese on, and made a new sandwich. Much easier to handle, and much firmer in the center!
Amazon! It’s become our favorite for special family breakfasts or brunches! Sometimes I use frozen strawberries, depending on what’s available.
Delicious and filling, the whole family loved it! Do follow the advice for the filling to use powdered confectioner’s sugar instead of granulated sugar, a mixer whips that up nicely into a smooth creamy wonderful filling. And if your block of cream cheese is cold, either leave it out for 30+ mins or expedite that by warming it up on a plate in the microwave for 1 minute 15 seconds. And the strawberry topping is just right. For a little variety, also offer apple/any flavor of preserves/jam. Two sandwiches per person for hearty appetites!
Yummy!
Yummy!
My family loved this! I added the juice of a lemon and clementine zest to the strawberry topping.
it’s a pretty fun recipe though I’d say the cream cheese portion could probably use 1/2 as much sugar, maybe even just 1/4 of what the recipe calls for. The rest of it and the strawberry sauce is so sweet, the cream cheese doesn’t need much sweetening to make it work.
Really good and really healthy thanks to you now I know what to do
It was great. I went step by step!!!
Concept is great but a few pieces of the execution could use tweaking IMO. The level of sweetness here is clearly a matter of personal preference, because SO many reviewers said this was the right amount of sweetness, but I found it to be too over the top sweet. And the sauce didn’t quite come together as I hoped either, I think I would put more strawberries in and maybe keep them sliced or chopped instead of mashed
Awesome recipe. Took the advice of another reviewer and use powdered sugar instead of white sugar for the cream cheese spread. I used the thicker Texas Toast bread and it turned out excellent. Thank you!
Mothers Day breakfast was a hit for my wife and my adult boys. Switch everything to powder sugar. Use Texas toast, for sure. Then you can cook on all five sides flipping with tongs. Next time I’ll make the whipped cream and glaze before hand so they can both cool and firm up. I’m not crazy about sweets but this was right about max for me. Next time I’ll orange zest the glaze, or throw in whatever other berries I have around.
I liked the individual components of this recipe . The cream cheese mixture and the strawberry compote. But the French toast concept is a bit too mushy for me. I rather just make cheesecake! or bread pudding. But for those people who love French toast, this may be ideal for you.
Although a bit overwhelmingly sweet the first time I made this (i made this for 4 triangle sandwiches instead of 8) so while i cut the sugar to suit for the strawberry glaze.. I got a bit side tracked and failed to cut the sugar for the cream cheese mixture.. OOPS! Toothache city sweet.. So the second time I did NOT forget and results were so much better.. Loved it and can’t wait to make it again.
We simply loved it only change would be to use less egg and milk mixture everything else was awesome!
So wonderful will make again
I wanted to take a picture but they were eaten too fast. No white sugar for us, but I did use powdered sugar for both strawberries and cream cheese mixture. YO. So good. Regular weekend rotation.
