You might want to double this recipe for these teriyaki-pineapple pork chops because they are so delectable. Slices of fresh, raw, or grilled pineapple should be served.

Prep Time: 30 mins
Cook Time: 6 hrs
Total Time: 6 hrs 30 mins
Servings: 6
Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 tablespoon butter
  2. 2 pounds boneless pork roast
  3. 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  4. 1 medium onion, chopped
  5. 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  6. 4 cups water
  7. 1 tablespoon liquid smoke flavoring

Instructions

  1. Cut the pork roast into large chunks. Season generously with the Cajun seasoning. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add pork, and brown on all sides. Remove from the skillet, and transfer to a slow cooker.
  2. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet, and cook for a few minutes until tender. Stir in the water scraping the bottom to include all of the browned pork bits from the bottom of the pan, then pour the whole mixture into the slow cooker with the pork. Stir in liquid smoke flavoring.
  3. Cover, and cook on High for 6 hours, or until meat is falling apart when pierced with a fork. Remove pieces of pork from the slow cooker, and shred. Return to the slow cooker to keep warm while serving.

Many compliments! I would not add any extra smoke. The Cajun recipe rub is great. I served the barbecue sauce on the side. There is so much flavor going on, no need to add more!

This is my new favorite pulled pork. I am so happy to find a recipes that is not slathered in BBQ sauce! The Smokey flavor is delicious!!!

This one’s a hit every time I make it. Thanks for the great recipe!

I outdid myself! Instead of water, I used 1 bottle of beer, 2 cups apple juice, 1 1/2 cups chicken stock and 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar. SOOOOO GOOOD!

Very good! Easy. I did read other’s reviews and took suggestions. I did not brown the tenderloin first. I simply cut it into chunks and put it in the crockpot. I did use a pork loin that was 3.77 lbs. I did not add onions. I did use 3 Tsp of minced garlic, rubbed the meat with PitBoss pulled pork rub, threw in about a tsp. Of red pepper flakes, 2 cups of water and 2 cups of apple cider vinegar . cooked it for 6 hours. It fell apart! Delicious.

Great pulled pork, though I made and would make a few changes. First, less liquid, although maybe my cut was much fattier so it didn’t need so much liquid. I used a combo of water and leftover flat coke I had. I didn’t really brown the onion or garlic. I put in pickles habaneros –delicious. Didn’t cut up the pork. Only cooked for 5hours. Didn’t use the cooking sauce. Instead, we dressed it with other toppings, including a bit of bbq sauce. It was incredible! I don’t think you could mess it up!

After reading the reviews, I didn’t fry it first, call me lazy. This recipe is excellent!!! The pork is tasty by itself, I also sampled it with Hickory Smoke and Mesquite Smoke BBQ Sauce, since I had both bottles already opened. As a matter of fact, before my slow cooker had even cooled down, I put in another batch. I had tried other pulled pork recipes where you cook the pork in the BBQ sauce and this is so much better.

This recipe is good as is. But, I added a little brown sugar, Worcestershire, vinegar and beef broth with less water. I notice some comments talking about not browning the meat or about draining the liquid. If you just put the meat in the slow cooker without browning it nicely, you are ignoring all the wonderful magic of the Maillard reaction and essentially just boiling meat. It is not the same and most definitely does not taste the same. In addition, after cooking all the flavor out of the meat it would be a travesty to poor the flavor down the drain. Instead, I poured all the liquid in to a wide pan and reduced it down over high heat. When the liquid was slightly thickened and less than 1/4 the amount that it was, I adjusted seasonings a bit and added the liquid with all the wonderful flavor back to the meat where it belongs.

It’s a good substitution for the real thing. Though, recommend preping the meat the day before and seasoning it with your choice of Cajun spices. Cover in marinade bowl and refrigerate till ready. Did not use water but instead, halfed the amount and used a bottle of my favorite craft beer.

This was ok. The meat was very tender and moist but the flavor was a bit lacking. We added extra spices to liven up the flavor before serving.

This is a good recipe for pulled pork. I think that browning the meat is a must. It gives you that crust that smoking does. I would add a little more liquid smoke the next time. I used chicken broth instead of water. Came out delicious just a tad bland. In my opinion all pulled pork must be served dry. Then you can add sauce etc right before eating.

This is delicious! I was short on time. So I used this recipe for ingredients, but cooked it on my lowest rack at 350 for 2.5 hours. It was fantastic!

Turned out great! Added some Dinosaur BBQ sauce and man oh man were they yummy.

Turned out great! Thanks

I followed the recipe, and I think some people are expecting a tangy/spicy BBQ style pork. Personally, I enjoyed the fact that you could taste the pork and smoke. I topped it with a cabbage/apple slaw on a bun…delicious! The only thing I changed was I used a smoked applewood rub on the pork before browning it (in my opinion there is never enough smoke flavor.) I will definitely make this again.

This is always a hit!

Made with pork loin chops and into sandwiches. Yum.

Very good recipe for basic, simple pulled pork. I like spicier foods so I increased the Cajun seasoning a bit (1-2 pinches extra) and used a tangy brand of BBQ sauce.
