My mother’s recipe is delicious! This potato salad differs from others due to a special ingredient!

Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 40 mins
Servings: 15
Yield: 15 servings

Ingredients

  1. 10 eggs
  2. 12 medium white potatoes with skin
  3. 1 bunch green onions, chopped
  4. 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  5. 1 ½ cups mayonnaise
  6. 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes. Remove eggs with a slotted spoon and set aside to cool. Add whole potatoes to the water and boil until a knife is easily inserted, but they are not too soft. Drain and cool.
  2. Peel and chop the eggs and place them in a large serving bowl. Stir in the green onions. When the potatoes have cooled, peel and chop then add them to the bowl. Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and stir in the mayonnaise. Sprinkle parley over the top. Chill until serving. This is best served chilled.

Definitely different. The recipe as is, looks NOTHING like the picture, and is much too runny with 14 ounces of the sweet condensed milk.

Ever since first trying this recipe it has been my go to potato salad. Everybody seems to really like it. I add black olives to the mix and it becomes a real treat.

I would definitely use this recipe again. I added salt and pepper lightly to the potatoes, bell peppers and a twist: some marinated broccoli from a thanksgiving dish for crunch and fiber. A great marriage of flavors.

Awesome recipe! I make this often for a household of several men and they eat all of it every time!

A bit too sweet and too “soupy”. Using half of the sweetened condensed milk would take care of both of these problems. I added some bacon bits; the salad needed a bit of salt anyway, which the bacon bits provided.

I cut the entire recipe in half and the sweetened condensed milk made it too sweet. However, the condensed milk is a nice twist in the recipe for a new flavor every now and then

this is really a wonderful recipe. our traditional family potato salad is basically the same- we just add small bits of fried bacon, green peppers and about a tablespoon of sweet chilli sauce- it makes a world of difference!

I enjoyed this potato salad. Everyone was trying to figure out the ingrediants because it does have an original taste to it. It makes people wonder and it’s funny to watch their expressions as they notice there is something special and different about this potato salad. I didn’t give it a 5 because while delicious it was not restaurant material, but for home and for anyone that loves potato salad, I do recommend this salad. I don’t think it’s for everyone, but everyone in my family did enjoy it.
