It tastes just like Mrs. Field’s recipe. My husband and our three boys quickly make them disappear when I make them.

Ingredients

  1. 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  2. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  3. ½ cup frozen strawberries, partially thawed (Optional)
  4. 10 cups clean fresh snow
  5. ¼ cup milk, or as needed

Instructions

  1. Stir the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract together in a large bowl.
  2. Place the strawberries into a blender, and puree until almost smooth. Mix the strawberries into the condensed milk mixture until thoroughly combined.
  3. With a large spoon, gently mix in the snow, about 1 cup at a time. Mix in the milk, 2 tablespoons at a time, until the snow ice cream is soft and holds its shape when spooned. Serve immediately; store leftover ice cream in an airtight container in the freezer.
  4. To collect snow, place a large bowl outside in a safe high place during a heavy snow. Collecting it from the ground is NOT advised, you never know the cleanliness of the snow on the ground! To make in off season or if it doesn’t snow enough, just use an ice shaver to make your “snow!”

This was such fun to make! I had never made snow ice cream before but we had a perfect heavy snowfall, I had a can of condensed milk and some frozen strawberries and it was New Year’s Day! The result was much tastier than I had imagined, and we could store what was left outside overnight in a closed container.

I made this during a huge blizzard, when the store couldn’t get and strawberries, but I liked how it mixed the stuff slowly, and used condensed milk, so I tried it without the strawberries. I mixed the extract and condensed milk together, then added 2-3 tablespoons of the mixture, 2 teaspoons of milk, and 2-3 cups of snow at a time, mixing well as I went. It had a good consistency, but it wasn’t sweet enough, according to my 8 and 5 year old and my husband. So I added 5 tablespoons sugar and 3 tablespoons powdered sugar. It was really good then. I agree with them, it had a good vanilla taste, but it just wasn’t sweet enough. The next time I make this, I’m going to use more condensed milk. My husband just said he’d give it 4 stars too.

This was very good. I rated it a four because I had to add more strawberry to give it a better flavor. FYI, the regular milk is definitely needed; it gives it a better flavor than just the condensed milk. Overall, it really is a nice recipe.

This ice cream is fabulous!! It tastes like real homemade ice cream!! We didn’t have strawberries so it was just vanilla but it was excellent and we will definitely be making this again and again!! It will be a fun, easy tradition!! Thanks for sharing the recipe!!

This is excellent Snow Ice Cream! I used my mixer and add the snow into the bowl at the end. I used raspberry preserves, since I did not have frozen berries. This turned out fancy enough to serve at a party or a nice restaurant!
