  2. 2 tablespoons minced onion
  3. 1 tablespoon beef base
  4. ½ teaspoon black pepper
  5. 3 slices white bread
  6. 2 pounds lean ground beef
  7. 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  8. 1 (10.75 ounce) can water
  9. 1 dash Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the eggs, onion, beef base, and pepper in a bowl. Tear the bread into large pieces, and place into the bowl. Let the bread soak for a few seconds and add the ground beef. Mix the meat into the egg-bread mixture, and form into 8 patties.
  2. Heat a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat, and fry the patties until they are browned and the meat is no longer pink in the center, about 8 minutes per side. Set the patties aside.

I make a similar dish with chicken breasts, so I made a few changes based upon that recipe. -I substituted mushroom based for the beef base in the burgers. -I soaked the bread crumbs in milk -Instead of canned mushroom soup, I use heavy whipping cream with mushroom base a little flour and sherry -Lastly, I saute sliced cremini mushrooms and put on top the burgers

We really enjoyed this. I did not have beef base so I omitted it. I added Lipton onion soup mix to both the patties and the gravy and I added mushrooms to the gravy. Will make again.

This was so easy and delicious. I will definitely make it again.

Loved this recipe but had to make a few changes. I didnt have any water so I used beef broth. Didnt have any hamburber either so I used spam. Omitted the onion and used parsnips. Otherwise DELICOUS. Hubby requests this one again!

This ended up being okay. Ultimately, the sauce was delicious and I made it according to the recipe. Despite other comments, the sauce was the best part. In the future, I will use bread crumbs instead of “pieces of bread.”

Didn’t have cream of mushroom so used cream of chicken. Still really good. Like others, I used the dry onion soup as the beef base.

O made this for my kids and I for dinner. Turned out good, smelled amazing. Kids did say that it seemed a little dry, but I may have cooked the burgers too long before putting into sauce. I made a couple changes to it. Instead of beef cube, I used beef broth. I put 2 tablespoons into beef mixture. Instead of 1 can of water I used 1 can of beef broth. I really enjoyed it and would make it again. Might use bread crumbs though as I didn’t prefer the larger chunks of bread that remained in the finished product.

Simple, tasty, everyone loved it! This is highly recommended for those times you don’t know what to make or you want something a bit different. I sautéed 2/3 of a onion in butter and topped the meat with onions and Swiss cheese. ENJOY!

One of my kids favorite! We never have leftovers

The burgers did not hold its shape when I flipped them over. Instead, they crumbled.

It may be due to my substitutions, but to me this recipe was bland. I didn’t have all the ingredients on hand, so I used onion powder instead of minced onion and concentrated beef broth (made from a bouillon cube) instead of beef base. I don’t typically have minced onion or beef base on hand, so I may continue experimenting to adjust this recipe to my existing pantry items and taste. I was also confused about whether to mix the bread chunks in with the beef when making the patties, but I mixed in the bread anyway because the recipe didn’t say to remove the bread. This resulted in some pretty large, soggy bread pieces in the steaks even after cooking. Next time I will rip the bread into smaller pieces. With a few tweaks to fit my preferences and what I usually have on hand, I think this recipe has potential to be a staple dinner in our house because of its ease!

Family loved it. Halved the recipe because there’s 3 of us and we still have leftovers for lunch! Made fresh mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli as sides. Easy and yummy!
Carolyn Carpenter
My husband loved it. I cut back on all the salt so it had a smooth taste!

This was very good. I liked the way the patties kept their shape and didn’t fall apart when turning them. Will add to my rotation.
Jason Bentley
No I made exactly by recipe. Very good, will make again.
Jennifer Ortiz
