S’mores Brownies

Using fresh Granny apples plucked from our nearby orchard, I enjoy making this delectable apple crisp recipe in the fall. Top with a sweet cranberry compote for a Thanksgiving-inspired touch.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 25 mins
Total Time: 40 mins
Servings: 20
Yield: 20 brownies

Ingredients

  1. 1 (18.3 ounce) package fudge brownie mix (such as Betty Crocker®)
  2. ½ cup vegetable oil
  3. 2 large eggs
  4. 3 tablespoons water
  5. 6 graham crackers
  6. 1 ½ cups miniature marshmallows
  7. 8 (1.5 ounce) bars milk chocolate, coarsely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Make the brownies: Stir brownie mix, oil, eggs, and water together in a medium bowl until well blended. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  4. While the brownies are baking, make the topping: Break graham crackers into 1-inch pieces and place into a bowl. Add marshmallows and chopped chocolate and toss to combine.
  5. Remove brownies from the oven and sprinkle with topping ingredients. Return to the oven and continue to bake until a toothpick inserted 2 inches from the side of the pan comes out clean, 7 to 10 more minutes.
  6. Use any flavor brownie mix for this recipe.

As written this makes awful brownies. Do not add the toppings so early. They burn before the brownies are done! I ruined two pans. This sucked!

I love this website, and over the years I have found some amazing recipes! My 5 year old granddaughter and I decided to try these. I followed the instructions to the letter! They had the entire house smelling and people asking what was baking?? Everyone loved them. They got a bit toasty..er but tasted amazing! We are already getting a request for a 2nd batch!

If anyone saw the recipe in IG she made it differently. She lined the 9×13 withe sheets of Graham crackers. Then she mixed the brownie mix up and put it on top of the graham cracker base and baked it. Then she melted the choc bars and when the brownies came out of oven she spread it over the top (not sure if she let them cool first). Then she covered the top with large marshmallows and put back into the oven to brown. Maybe on broil, not sure.

They look great! Can’t wait to taste them!

Made a couple adjustments. Followed the baking instructions from the brownie mix that I used and baked until there was about 7 mins left, pulled it out and put the toppings on, and then finished the last 7 mins. (So if the instructions said to bake for 35 mins, I put it in for 28 mins, did the toppings, bake the remaining 7). I also used chocolate chips instead of a chocolate bar because that’s what I had on hand. I did not measure the chocolate chips, but I can say with 100% certainty that I put more than what the recipe stated. These were pretty decadent, so we weren’t able to eat them all right away so I cut the remaining part into single serve pieces and wrapped them in freezer paper and stored them in the freezer. They warmed up nicely in the toaster oven and it was almost like a fresh baked brownie whenever I wanted.

Very simple to make. Baked brownies as per box, added s’mores, baked 8 more minutes, came out great. Everyone loved them.

My son loved this recipe. I use dark chocolate chips, Ghirardelli brownie mix.

Oh my goodness- amazing!

I made it with a fudge brownie and it needs a more cake like brownie. With my oven I needed to cook the brownies more and the topping less!

These were delicious and very easy to make.

My kids picked out this recipe and it was yummy. Used 2+ cups marshmallows, 5 chocolate bars (because my daughter ate one), and 6 graham crackers broken into bite-sized pieces. Added the topping with about 7 minutes left of baking time and lightly pressed in. Some of the marshmallows around the edges melted, so I used a spatula coated in nonstick spray to scrape them off the sides after they cooled about 10 min. We made the brownies with applesauce instead of oil to be a bit healthier, but I wouldn’t recommend it- they were too cake-like and the longer they sat out the softer they became. Didn’t like that with the graham crackers softening the longer it sat (2 days). Next time I will use oil and maybe just scale it to make an 8×8 pan for my family of 4. Much better texture-wise if you eat them just cooled or even slightly warm. Definitely use a knife coated in nonstick spray to cut these the first day. Second day they cut fine. Making these again for sure!

This was a simple recipe to put together but I think the only way it would have been great is if it was eaten warm. I had to take it to a dinner party, which meant it left the oven 30 minutes before I got there. The brownies were now somewhat tough and the topping was no longer crunchy and gooey, as it needs to be. Again, this was probably excellent if eaten right out of the oven but I followed the recipe to cool and that was a mistake.

Sooooo rich

Made these and they were delicious. I didn’t have milk choc bars so I used nestles chocolate chips instead. They were a hit with my grandchildren. I am making them again this weekend and will use the milk choc that is recommended.

Followed some of the other suggestions, broke the graham crackers into smaller pieces, and only put the toppings on for the last 7-8 minutes of baking. They were a hit and did not last long. Will make again.

Everyone loved it. Used 2 cups marshmallows instead and only 2 bars of Hershey Chocolate.

WAYYYY more chocolate was asked for than needed in the S’mores mixture. Other than that, was really tasty.

So fun and yummy!

Super easy and “stupid good!” (to quote one of my daughters as her eyes were rolling back in her head). I’m sure it’s even better as directed, but we only used about a cup of milk chocolate chips instead of a ton of chocolate bars, and it was still crazy rich and delicious. Serving a la mode with chocolate ice cream also proved popular. Will absolutely make again.
