Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken

3.5 – 22 reviews  • Teriyaki Sauce and Marinade Recipes

This popular deviled egg recipe’s secret ingredients include hot mustard and sugar. Are you having your mother-in-law’s eggs? is a question that is frequently posed to my daughter-in-law whenever she hosts a gathering. Mothers-in-law are known to be sweet and devilish!

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 4 hrs
Total Time: 4 hrs 10 mins
Servings: 3

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup chicken broth
  2. ½ cup teriyaki sauce
  3. 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  4. 3 cloves garlic, minced
  5. 1 pound chicken, diced

Instructions

  1. Whisk chicken broth, teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, and garlic together in a large bowl. Add chicken and toss until well coated. Transfer mixture to a slow cooker.
  2. Cover and cook on Low until chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, 4 to 6 hours. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
  3. You can use garlic powder instead of fresh garlic if you’d like.

We found it dreadfully sweet and pretty tasteless. Waste of excellent ingredients. Eaten, not discarded like so many others. Would never make again.

I’m always grateful for an easy to prepare meal. Tasted good. My son was home from college, so I doubled the ingredients. Definitely didn’t need twice the liquid though. So I’ll try to thicken the sauce with cornstarch when we have the leftovers. Wish I had added green onions to the top as the photo depicted, but I didn’t have any.

I thought it was just OK. My husband didn’t like it at all.

I made it exactly according to the recipe… The sauce was way to thin. I added cornstarch to thicken it. Way too sweet. Cooking it on low for 4 hours was way too much. The chicken was so overcooked. We ate it but I will not be using this particular recipe again.

I had 2.5 lbs of chicken so I multiplied the recipe. I cooked the chicken for 5.5 hours. There was too much liquid. So I poured it into a skillet. I put the heat on high and cooked off the liquid. I added green onions as the liquid became more carmelized. I then served with steamed broccoli/Jasmin rice. I would make it again this way.

i loved it, only thing different i would do is make twice as much. it was delicious

Everyone who has said anything about the sauce being too thin have not read the ingredients. There is no thickener in the sauce. It’s amazing what a cornstarch slurry will do for a thin sauce. This recipe is very flavorful and delicious.

I wish I had read the reviews before making this but I was in a hurry to throw something in the slow cooker & had all the ingredients on hand. but Iunfortunately this isn’t very good. Very thin & watery without a lot of flavor. If you’re looking for a good slow cooker teriyaki recipe – keep looking. I managed to salvage dinner by finding a thick & gooey Japanese teriyaki sauce recipe & making that to pour over the chicken.

Probably the worst meal I’ve ever served up. Bland and watery
Pamela Wilkins
Easy yet sooooo delicious!

Not sure why anyone would give this five stars. This is NOT genuine teriyaki chicken. Maybe it’s chicken teriyaki soup? One is not supposed to serve chicken teriyaki over rice using a ladle. Just sayin. The chicken also turned out super dry. Maybe use little to no chicken broth, and add pineapples.

Liked the flavor of the chicken but found the sauce too watery. Would like the sauce thicker. Will not make this again.

I followed the recipe EXACTLY and didn’t think it was very tasty. As one reviewer suggested, maybe extra brown sugar would have helped. My hubby liked it, so not a lost cause, but I probably will look for an alternate recipe next time.
Sherri Brown
it was awful

High 2-3 hours or low for 5 hours.

Love it! someone suggested apple cider. if you are to put it just put 1/4 or lesser because of the strong taste. i love it. another tip is to marinade the chicken longer for flavorful taste
Cheryl Mendez
It turned out ok, but it was not what I was expecting. I was expecting the teriyaki to be ooey and gooey and coated all over the chicken.

Adding potstickers is a nice bonus .

Great change of pace while home-bound. Used chicken broth from cooked chicken and decreased cook time in my instant pot. Served over rice with chow mein noodles. Delicious and filling!

Sooo easy and DEE-licious! I can’t WAIT to make it again!

I cooked it on high for 3 hours and it was delicious. I served it over white rice. So easy and yummy! Will definitely make it again.
