Delicious steel-cut oats that are hot and ready in the morning thanks to the slow cooker! Add chopped nuts, raisins, maple syrup, more milk, or butter as a garnish.

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups water
  2. 1 cup milk
  3. 1 cup steel-cut oats
  4. 1 medium apple – peeled, cored, and chopped
  5. 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  6. 1 ½ tablespoons butter, cut into 6 pieces (Optional)
  7. ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  8. ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine water, milk, oats, apple, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and salt in a slow cooker; mix well.
  2. Cook on Low for 1 hour. Reduce heat to Simmer or Warm and cook for 7 to 8 more hours.
  3. You can substitute maple syrup or other desired sweetener for brown sugar.

I left out the butter and used pure protein drink and water combo to equal the amount of fluid. It is amazing!
