Good recipe! Doubled recipe but pretty much made according to recipe. Did sear ribs for color before going into crockpot. Cooked on high for 4 hours.

I first made this recipe in 2013 and loved it. We are a pork family and we buy fresh pork from our local FFA so we have various cuts. That being said, this recipe works! Especially with fatty cuts. I have made very few adjustments, but none that altered the original recipe. I brown the meat then deglaze the pan with about 1/4 cup H20 and 2 TBS beef broth. I like to use “Better than Bouillon”. I add 1 large onion, cut in eighths and put that on the bottom of the slow cooker and set the seared pork on top of the onions. I combine all of the spices together and add to the deglazed liquid and pour over the meat. (Also, I add a dash of ground cloves, purely a very personal taste.) My cooker is a little “hot” so 4-5 hours on low is plenty. However, check at 4 hours. This is a great and easy recipe.

I was looking for something NOT BBQ and this was perfect. Really interesting combination of flavors. I will make it again. Next time, I will sear off the ribs first before putting in the slow cooker, but that’s my only alteration suggestion.

These were delicious! I did some changes based on other’s reviews. I increased the spices to 1 tsp, except for the ginger and allspice. Those I increased to 1/2 tsp. I increased the syrup and soy sauce to 1/4 cup. I will definitely make these again!

Yes, the sauce was “thin,” but so what? I’m not sure this sauce is supposed to be thick! It was tasty, and this recipe made plenty of sauce just as it was written. Reminded me a lot of something mom would have made. I don’t do much cooking, but I could see myself making this again.

I baked it in the oven at 250 and turned out great

I personally didn’t like it.

I LOVE this recipe! As others before me I make more sauce with it. I but the family pack of country style ribs which is usually about 4 lbs. increasing the maple syrup to 2/3 cup and doubling every other ingredient makes plenty of sauce. And I usually dice an onion instead of using dried onion. Sits in the crockpot on low 12 hrs or so until we get home from work. DELICIOUS!!!!

added a bit more spices,I will make this again.

This was excellent! Love the taste of the sauce! Used the ingredients listed. If you’re looking for a “BBQ” sauce taste, best off just buying some BBQ sauce and dumping over the ribs. But I was looking for something “different” instead of the same old bbq tasting ribs. This was defiantly a whole different taste and I loved it!!! More of a sweet/savory sauce. I really enjoyed the taste, so I added a little bit of corn starch to thicken the sauce so it would stick to the meat! Delicious!!! Thanks for sharing your recipe!!! It is a keeper!!!!

I followed the recipe to the letter. Just a fabulous dish. Good comfort dish to have a summer night.

Loved this! I did however, follow the reviews that said to increase spices to a teaspoon and the syrup and soy sauce to 1/4 cup. I had very thick , meaty southern style ribs and they took only 7 hours to cook to perfection. Once cooked, I brought the juices to a boil and thickened a little with corn starch, then poured over the ribs and cooked noodles. Hubby loved these and he’s really not crazy about ribs (I am!). Easy prep, great on the palate, easy clean-up…can’t ask for more than that!! Thanks for sharing!!

Meat was tender but did not find it very flavorful.

Yummy. My husband really liked this so I served it to company and it was a hit with them too. Went golfing and it was ready when we got home! Thanks for sharing.

The flavor was ok but my husband did not care for it so it always impacts what I cook.

This is not very good. It has burnt notes and the meat gets very dry. I would not waste good ribs on this. I am being generous with a one star.

Pretty good. I would like to try with a better syrup next time.

I don’t know what happened. I followed the recipe even though it seemed odd not to add liquid to the slow cooker. The meat came out extremely dry. We liked the flavor of the spices, but it was so dry we couldn’t eat it.

. Definitely will make it again. It was very tasty and the meat was so nice and tender.

This was absolutely fantastic. My 13 year old daughter loved these ribs. I put my country style ribs in the crockpot over night. I did add more syrup and worschestire sauce than the recipe called for. I was skeptical of making ribs with syrup; but it was so juicy and tasty. I absolutely love this recipe. This will be a staple in our house!! I made the ribs in my crockpot overnight, took them out in the morning before work, placed ribs in a corning ware covered in aluminum foil in the fridge, and reheated for dinner after work. Very pleased!!
