Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 3 hrs 10 mins
Total Time: 3 hrs 30 mins
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  1. 1 Reynolds KITCHENS® Slow Cooker Liner
  2. 2 pounds lean ground beef
  3. 2 medium green bell peppers, chopped
  4. 2 small onions, chopped
  5. 2 (15 ounce) cans red kidney beans, undrained
  6. 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  7. 2 (10 ounce) cans diced tomatoes and green chiles
  8. 2 (1.25 ounce) packages chili seasoning mix
  9. ½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  10. ½ cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Line a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker with a Reynolds Kitchen Slow Cooker Liner. Fit liner snugly against the bottom and sides of the bowl; pull top of liner over the rim. Set aside.
  2. Cook and stir ground beef, bell peppers, and onions in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until beef is browned and crumbly. Drain grease.
  3. Spoon beef mixture into the lined slow cooker. Add beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and green chiles, and seasoning mix to beef mixture; stir gently with a wooden or plastic spoon.
  4. Cover and cook until hot and bubbly throughout, Low for 6 to 7 hours or High for 3 to 3 1/2 hours.
  5. Carefully remove the lid to allow steam to escape. Stir gently, then top with cheese and dollops of sour cream. Serve chili directly from the slow cooker liner.
  6. If using a 3- to 8-quart round or oval slow cooker, use the regular size Reynolds Kitchen Slow Cooker Liner and make the recipe as-is. If using a 1- to 3-quart round or oval slow cooker, use the small size Reynolds Kitchen Slow Cooker Liner and halve the recipe.
  7. Do not lift or transport liner with food inside. Remove all food from the liner and cool the slow cooker completely before removing the liner from the slow cooker.
  8. This recipe was modified on 12/08/2018 to make 8 servings (double the original recipe.) Older photos and reviews may reflect original servings.

Funny how people are talking about how to cut down on the salt; I thought it need more salt. It got better after 2-3 days in the refrigerator, but I think that’s typical of chili. I’ll definitely make it again, with probably a few tweeks.

This is a family favorite. I converted the recipe for my Instant Pot. Used 3 (14.5 ounce) cans tomato sauce, one (4-ounce) can mild green Chili’s, one (14.5 ounce) can petit diced tomatoes, one package mild taco seasoning and one package chili seasoning ( low sodium). Pressure cooked 14 minutes on high pressure and quick released. Served with homemade guacamole and other fixens. So good!!!

Fabulous. Easy to put together just the right amount of heat to satisfy all including my sister who is not into hot and my brother in law who prefers a bit of kick. The only change I made was about a half pound more ground beef and a little bit more tomato sauce as a large can rathe than 2 smaller ones. Same for the kidney beans. Easily makes enough for eight regular servings. Thanks for the recipe. It is definitely a keeper.

I made 1 1/2 of the recipe and both seasoning packets were perfect. I did add a can of black beans instead of 3 kidney beans just to have a different bean in the mix and I also added an orange bell pepper and a jalapeño pepper as the 3rd bell and extra heat. It was a hit at our football watch party.

my husband loved it. He said not to loose that recipe

I substituted 1 can of regular petit cut tomatoes for the tomatoes with green chilis. I don’t like it to be too spicy. At the end, I added 2 Tbsp of cornstarch mixed with water to thicken the broth a bit. Needs about 1/2 tsp of salt. Everybody loved it and clean up was a snap!

I made this today for a tree tree trimming party. it’s super easy to do and the cooking instructions are spot on. I did make a few changes. Along with the ground beef, I added a pound of Italian sausage cut into bite size pieces. I also used red as opposed to white onion. about halfway through cooking, I realized it was soupier than I like. i added another can of kidney beans and a can of chili beans. My guests loved it!

I used low sodium chili packets. I also added corn and black beans just to make it go farther. I have a large family.Everyone loved it. They cleaned out the pot!

I have made this now three times. Now I am using venison for the meat. And I have tried swapping the tomato sauce for paste and I believe the tomato paste makes it taste better.

Made this for my husband & Step Dad. They both loved it! The only change I made was I used 1 packet of the chili seasoning and added some Cayenne pepper to give it a little more heat. I also added a can of tomato paste. I have never used a slow cooker liner before, but I did this time after reading it here and it was so nice for cleaning up!

I added garlic to it, because everything is better with garlic, and it was fantastic.

Excellent! I doubled the recipe….and rather than using chili seasoning….I used separate spices- chili powder, cayenne pepper, cumin, red pepper flakes, and some Franks’ Red Hot sauce. I also added a little corn starch and water at the end to thicken it up a bit.

Awesome chili – very tasty and super easy! The salt issue can be easily solved by using a “no salt added” tomato sauce. I use this instead of using half the seasoning packets and it turns out great!

I made it as described except I added one minced jalapeño pepper. I also made it with the sour cream and cheese options. All four of us agreed it was quite literally the best chili we’ve ever had.

It’s fantastic!! I too, only used one chili seasoning packet and it’s perfect! I also added some garlic powder and a little pepper and paprika. Good stuff!

Very delicious. Not too heavy. I added extra tomatoes so it wasn’t super thick. Like other reviews I didn’t add all of the seasoning per the directions. I used about half of that amount. This only yielded 4 bowls of chili.

Clean, easy & simple, love it. Hard to say if I’ll ever go back to the big pot on the stove. I generally make a double batch which fills my crock pot to the brim.

Slow Cooker Game Day Chili Haiku: “That’s serious salt. Gotta use less seasoning, or double the rest.” Two packets of chili seasoning (unless one uses a low-sodium brand) would make this entirely too salty, so I only used one – if I had used two, I would’ve doubled the meat and tomatoes. Anyways, I love a chili that naps in the crockpot all day, and this one was good, not award-winning, but definitely easy to put together and tasty. The baby loved it and the leftovers were eaten, so it earns stars for that.
