It was quite bland at first. I added some Montreal Steak Spice, extra garlic and a dash of chili powder. Gave it some zing and it was the rave of our potluck.
Don’t have Caribou in SC but lots of White Tail deer. Used this recipe but with venison and it was great. Cooked for 8 hrs in the slow cooker and venison was perfect. Added 1/2 cup of red wine to give a fuller flavor.
Delicious. I made it exactly like the recipe with moose meat.
used 1.1kg of frozen caribou meat – it was delicious and lasted me and my partner several days. Excellent fresh and heated up.
Loved by everyone. Will make this again soon and I wouldn’t change a thing.
The caribou was super tender and not gamey at all! I would definitely recommend this recipe.
I have never had or cooked caribou before, this was my very first time. I was a bit nervous after hearing so many mixed opinions about caribou meat -gamey/tough/dry etc. A friend gave us a nice caribou shoulder so..here we are..eating this Caribou stew for dinner!! I made this EXACTLY as written. I have to say….I would have thought it was beef stew if I didn’t know better. This made a great big crockpot full of stew…my in laws came over to have dinner with us and they too enjoyed it and thought it was beef. Anyways …thumbs up all around here:) Thank you for a great recipe 🙂
