Followed another reviewer’s suggestion to cook the chicken alone on high and then drain before adding the sauce. Good recipe.
Wrapped each piece in aluminum foil and it kept chicken moist and infused sauce into chicken. Was fantastic!
Used Hickory BBQ Sauce. And half maple syrup and half brown sugar instead of the 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Amazing
My family begged for a second pot! Easy and satisfied a family of 6 who will NEVER all wat the same thing.
The last step is missing to make it Southern style chicken barbeque: remove the chicken and shred it using two forks. The shredded chicken can be mixed with the extra juices to add moisture and flavor. Serve on a bun with cole slaw.
Loved this! I put in chopped garlic instead of garlic powder. Easy and delicious.
BBQ sauce did not stay on chicken, a big mess of chicken in liquid. Way way way too much liquid. Had to remove chicken and brush with BBQ sauce and put under broiler after it cooked in the crock pot. Also, if you are cooking it in BBQ sauce, there is absolutely no need for the other ingredients. Either make your own or use bottled. Using both is ridiculous.
I tried this recipe & it turned out delicious ! thanks
This was so easy to make and was delicious! I just put everything straight into the crock pot (except the pepper flakes) and used a rubber wisk, then rolled the chicken around so they were covered with sauce. Soooo yummy!
Not a bad recipe, but I agree with a couple other folks in that it needs to drained, and yes…you can use a store bought BBQ sauce! What I done was, is I took some foil and rolled it up to keep the chicken off the bottom…that way I can drain it when done and it also adds to the moisture by leaving it in, and I also used leg quarters. Throw some onion and garlic in the bottom where all the juices collect, and you have that flavor as well as a good base for gravy. I’ve done the same thing with brisket.
Great and Easy to make.
Made it 2 days ago, and making it again tonight. I love it. Just 4 ingredients and few hours…so easy and tastes great
I loved this recipe! I used 4 whole chicken breast frozen and cooked in my crockpot for about 5 hours. It turned out perfect and so delicious!
Very easy and delicious!! My only reservation with it was that I am a huge sissy about spicyness and I hadn’t realized what amount of heat 1/2 a tsp of red pepper flake actually creates. It was right at my top of the tolerance for spice but still very good, it was a little much for my 7 year old but he still really enjoyed it-next time I may use less red pepper though. Otherwise soooo tasty!
Easy and delicious. I threw everything in the crockpot on low and cooked as directed with one small exception. When it was close to time I put my chicken under the broiler for a few minutes for the chicken skin to crisp up a bit, like another reviewer mentioned. It was fall off of the bone melt in your mouth delicious. I will be making this again, as my family enjoyed it. I made enough to have leftovers for salad the next day and there was none.
This is a great recipe. I’d change nothing about it except for the cooking instructions. Chicken contains a lot of moisture, so I would recommend cooking the chicken “plain” for about 1/2 of the cooking time to get most of the moisture out. Drain the moisture out, then add all the ingredients as listed and continue cooking per instructions.
I pressure cooked it(Slow 1 Hour) I .Added Fresh Garlic and all the other ingredients and( left out Pepper seeds.) After the Hour I placed on a Cookie Sheet and Baked in the oven for another 20 minutes to Crisp it up! It was delicious and I think it may have been the Vinegar My grandmother was “German” and She Always Used Vinegar in her recipes. I like this recipe and will use it again I am Sure.
This is our go-to crock pot chicken. I often cook it on high for one hour and then on low for 2-2 1/2 more. We serve it with rice in bowls. Yummy!!
Awesome! We used Nota Yankee BBQ sauce from Lowe’s.
I followed the recipe exactly except a added a bit of lawrys seasoning salt. I did open the lid a few times to keep spooning the sauce on the chicken. It turned out great! A little bit of heat from the red pepper flakes but everyone loved it!
I liked this; the flavor came out just like I wanted. Will definitely make again.
