Yield: 16 sliders

Ingredients

  1. 2 1/2 pounds ground beef
  2. 1 large green bell pepper, diced
  3. 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  4. 5 cloves garlic, minced
  5. 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  6. 2 teaspoons chili powder
  7. 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  8. 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  9. 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  10. 3 to 4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  11. Hot sauce, to taste
  12. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  13. 16 soft slider buns
  14. 1 cup canned fried onions, such as French’s
  15. Red grapes, for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the beef in a large pot over medium-high heat and cook until browned, 7 to 10 minutes. Drain off the fat. Add the green peppers and onion and cook, stirring, until they soften slightly and are combined with the beef, a couple of minutes. Add the garlic and stir into the mixture for another minute or so.
  2. Add the ketchup and 1 cup water and stir to combine. Add the chili powder, brown sugar, dry mustard, red pepper flakes, Worcestershire and hot sauce. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until the sauce has thickened, about 20 minutes.
  3. Spoon a good amount of the meat on the bottoms of the slider buns. Place a good pinch of the fried onions over the top and place the tops of the buns on the sliders. Serve with the red grapes on the side.

Made this last night for my daughter who LOVES sloppy joes…. BIG SUCCESS!!! It was absolutely delicious! We added a couple additional dashes of the Worcestershire sauce for that tangy sweet and salty flavor. And the fried onion are a MUST!!!! They made the sliders a 10 star recipe!!!! Will definitely be adding this recipe to our regular rotation. Quick, easy and DELICIOUS!
