Slammin’ Salmon

  4.6 – 359 reviews

For all of us who reside along the South Carolina coast, this she-crab soup is a traditional dish. Here is how I would describe the wonderful soup. Enjoy!

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Additional Time: 2 hrs
Total Time: 2 hrs 20 mins
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  1. ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  2. ¼ cup lemon juice
  3. ¼ cup soy sauce
  4. 1 teaspoon salt
  5. 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  6. 1 ½ teaspoons ground ginger
  7. 1 teaspoon paprika
  8. 1 teaspoon black pepper
  9. 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  10. 4 cloves garlic, minced
  11. ¼ cup chopped green onions
  12. 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  13. ½ cup peanut oil
  14. 8 (4 ounce) skinless, boneless salmon fillets

Instructions

  1. Stir balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, and soy sauce with salt, brown sugar, ground ginger, paprika, pepper, and red pepper flakes until the salt has dissolved. Stir in garlic, green onions, sesame oil, and peanut oil until well combined.
  2. Pour marinade into a resealable plastic bag or glass bowl. Add salmon to marinade and gently toss to coat. Place into refrigerator and marinate 2 to 24 hours.
  3. Prepare an outdoor grill for medium-high heat.
  4. Drain excess marinade from salmon fillets. Grill until firm and opaque, about 4 minutes per side.

Excellent! Going for it again, but with a bit more ️. I didn’t have peanut oil so I used olive oil, but I’m going to buy peanut oil and check it out! Easy, convenient, and delicious! Thank you!!

Served this at a summer dinner party and got raves all around. Marinated for 5 hours, which was perfect. Every guest requested the recipe. I like the idea of reducing and serving the sauce. Such a shame to waste the marinade.

This is my husband’s favorite way to eat his favorite fish. It’s definitely spicy, but not over the top. I saw another rating that mentioned doing a sauce reduction with the marinade. I’m going to try that rather than pour those lovely spices down the sink! And I may try baking it as well, although I hate to mess with a good thing!

I’ve made several times and everyone loved it.

This tasted good. It has a lot of ingredients though, almost too many. I marinated for an hour and it was still very flavorful. I would not marinate longer than a few hours.

Absolutely Not, didn’t need any change.

Disappointed. Was looking forward to this with all of the positive reviews. Didn’t taste asian. All I tasted was the sour balsamic vinegar.

Too much heat for both of us.I will use less red pepper flakes next time.

Followed recipe to the letter omitting only the red pepper flakes. Marinade ruined the flavor of a good fresh piece of salmon. What is wrong with salmon with just a little tartar sauce on the side? I will not be making this again.

Delicious and easy to prepare.

This was easy to make and easy to grill. The only difference I chose was to grill this inside on my Ninja Foodie. This was DELISH.

Excellent Taste for everyone!

I’ve made this 3 times now and it is my favorite recipe for salmon. I skipped the peanut oil, but otherwise made as written. This is also very good with a few drops of Liquid Smoke added.

Slammin is right! I marinated for about 8 hours. I omitted the peanut oil because I didn’t have any. And substituted the ground ginger for about 2 tbsp of fresh ginger because it’s what I had on hand. I then put it in my NuWave air fryer oven at 350 for 30 minutes. It came out perfect! Will definitely be using it again.

I added slice of lemon on top and I would make this again.

This was outstanding. We loved it and can’t wait until we’re able to entertain again and can offer this!!! I did use the sesame oil but not the peanut oil. Marinated in a baggie for about 5 hrs. Took Ingrams recommendations – baked it in the oven at 400 for 10-12 min and reduced the marinade to serve as a sauce.

We enjoyed it. I didn’t have any green onions . I used minced ginger instead of powder. I did not add any salt . I didn’t grill it on bbq, did it in the oven and finished it under the broiler. Timing will vary on thickness of your salmon portions. I would make it again

Good flavor, easy to make.

Exactly like the recipe. Sauce so good, we’re making at again for ribs!

Very good. Baked for 14 min in a 400 degree oven after marinating for about an hour and a half (it’s my understanding that salmon would start being cooked by the acid if it marinates longer). Will likely reduce the extra marinade down to top at the end of cooking to make the flavors stand out more.

I made this exactly to the ingredients suggested. I only marinated for 4 hours and I baked for 15 minutes at 450 degrees and it turned out perfect. It got a 5 star from my family.
