Savory Slow Cooker Beef Tips

This is an excellent way to use up leftover rhubarb! You can use the syrup to add a spark to any of your favorite drinks, from margaritas to vodka lemonade, and it is a pretty spicy take on a Cosmopolitan. Invite your friends over since the syrup will make 12 cocktails.

Ingredients

  1. 2 pounds beef stew meat
  2. 2 (10.75 ounce) cans cream of mushroom soup
  3. 1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
  4. 1 onion, minced
  5. 2 garlic cloves, minced
  6. 1 (8 ounce) package sliced cremini mushrooms
  7. 1 cup ginger ale

Instructions

  1. Place beef in a slow cooker. Stir cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, onion, garlic, cremini mushrooms, and ginger ale in a bowl until thoroughly combined and pour the mixture over the beef.
  2. Cover, set slow cooker to High, and cook for 1 hour; turn cooker down to Low and cook for 5 more hours.

Excellent. Used large package of stew meat, added some garlic, steak sauce, Worcestershire, pepper. Served with egg noodles. Meat turned out very tender. Cooked on high for a couple of hours, low for 3, then back on high until tender. All the kids ate it.

I have an allergy to onion soup mix (MSG) so I cut up red onion, coated the beef with a flour/garlic powder mix, added Worchester and soy sauce, a little olive oil and apple cider vinegar (in place of soda -which I didn’t have on hand) Delicious!!!

Very nice base recipe. I followed instructions precisely but found the “stew” to be fat heavy and a bit flat in flavor. I cut the fat with 4 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar. I also added 3 teaspoons of cumin for flavor depth as well as 3 tablespoons of both soy sauce and Worcestershire. The flavor spectrum spread a bit wider with these additions and it was quite good. My sons loved it over mashed potatoes but I also brought a bowl of egg noodles to the table which my wife and I really enjoyed. Fresh green beans sautéed in a bit of butter brought the meal together.

This was very good. We didn’t find it too salty at all. I added salt and pepper. I love how easy it was. My family all enjoyed it.

I made this with a few changes. It is much better after it sets. I didn’t use the mushrooms. I added some Worcestershire and used Sprite because I had no ginger ale. Served it over mashed potatoes and my kids loves it because the meat was so tender. I did add some flour and water to thicken it up a little.

So easy!!! I added broccoli and mushrooms after the hour on high… I also added spices/seasoning, habanero and steak to my liking. I love spices…. served over garlic mash potatoes

I used Sprite instead of Ginger Ale, because its what I had on hand. I used deer meat instead of beef. I cooked everything for 8 hours on low in the slow cooker. I used Baby Bellas as the mushrooms, which is a personal preference. This turned out SO yummy! Served over rice, with a side of brocolli, best new meal we’ve tried in a while. Usually deer meat is dry, even when cooked in the slow cooker, but in this recipe, it was delicious.

A very good recipe. I made it just as written. I think the cooking time is a little too long. It was ready to go about an hour before the recipe said it would be done.

I bought the ingredients and started to make it based on the yummy looking picture. Well, then upon further study, the reviews are horrible and I was like, I don’t want to make this now. Well I made it and now know (or have further affirmation) to never believe anything you read on the internet. The stew is fine. It’s tasty, the meat was so tender. It wasn’t too salty. It must be a bunch of Barefoot Contessas out there getting their knickers in a twist about salty food. I’m a picky eater, a wine snob, etc. But I thunk it was good man-food….

We found this recipe to be extremely oniony between the onion soup and the chopped onion. Also pretty soupy, so I added a cornstarch and water mixture near the end of cooking. Overall, just “eh.”

I followed recipe exactly- super bland. There was a lot of liquid/gravy, put it over egg noodles–No flavor. My husband and I had to add salt and pepper after every bite. He commented that he has never had to add so much salt to a dish. The beef was very tender though.
