One of my preferred fresh green bean recipes is sautéed green beans with onion. Additionally delicious with bacon or slivered almonds.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 30 mins
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  2. 1 pinch salt
  3. 4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  4. 1 medium onion, finely diced
  5. 1 shallot, chopped
  6. ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  7. ½ teaspoon soy sauce
  8. salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Fill a stockpot with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Add green beans and pinch salt; boil until tender, 5 to 10 minutes. Drain beans in a colander and rinse with cold water. Blot dry using paper towels.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir onion and shallot in hot oil until tender and translucent, 5 to 7 minutes. Add green beans and season with garlic salt, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook and stir for 5 to 7 minutes more. Serve immediately.

We like our green beans crunchy so I only boiled for 5 minutes. Not sure what made this so special but something did. I make a lot of green beans and my husband praised these more than he typically praises the vegetable. This was super simple too so that is always a bonus. Thanks for sharing!
