Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 4 bunches broccolini (1 1/2 pounds)
- 3 tablespoons good olive oil
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water and the salt to a boil. Remove and discard the bottom third of the broccolini stems. If some stems are very thick, cut them in half lengthwise.
- When the water comes to a full boil, add the broccolini, return to a boil, and cook over high heat for 2 minutes, until the stalks are crisp tender. Drain and immediately immerse the broccolini in a large bowl filled with ice water to stop the cooking. Drain in a colander and set aside.
- Heat the oil in a saute pan. Add the garlic and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 1 to 2 minutes. Add the broccolini and stir until heated through.

Thank you for this. My friend adds red pepper flakes – it gives it a nice little pop
This is now one of my favorite veggie side dishes! As some other reviews said I added shallots, baby Bella and lemon. I think I’ll try pine nuts as someone said, instead of the sesame seeds.
I sauteed some baby bella mushrooms in the olive oil. Then added the garlic, kosher salt and pepper. Then added the broccolini. Served over pasta with some parmesan.
So quick and easy! Delicious!
Simple and delicious!
Holy WOW! This was sooooooo delicious that I couldn’t stop eating it! But no need to feel too guilty because it’s a veggie Even my husband who “hates” broccoli ate all of his, including the stems and didn’t try to put it in the garbage behind my back!.
Super good and easy! Excellent suggestion on the shallots. That brought it up. Also I forgot to salt my water so needed a pinch when I was cooking the broccolini.
Easy and hubby and 11 year old liked it!
I liked it being my first time eating it but im WONDERING why was it bitter.
Easy and delicious. To make this recipe even easier, you can just smash the garlic cloves. It will will start to disintegrate and will still lend it’s flavor to the oil without being minced.
Also added a pinch of chili flakes to the oil to give a bit of heat – it was perfect.
