This is a fantastic recipe for traditional German sourdough bread. This bread tastes almost exactly like the bread we buy in Bavaria, Germany, where we originally came from. There, they continue to bake bread every two weeks in a very old stone oven in the center of a little community. They bake a sizable quantity all at once, and you may purchase it and freeze extras till the next baking day. My favorite German bread, hands down!

Today I added 1/4 tsp each of rosemary, thyme and red pepper flakes. Just added a nice soft extra flavor, really liked it.
This was the easiest gravy recipe! The first time I’ve ever made gravy and my husband loved it. I made it with jimmy dean hot sausage because that was all I had. It was spicy but delicious. I would like to make it next time with regular sausage. Loved it.
This is such a great recipe.
Turned out perfect. I chopped up two slices of thick bacon, cooked it with the sausage and added it into the mix. It’s a great basic gravy recipe!
I had never attempted to make Sausage gravy before, but I have extremely fond memories of my grandmother making it for me and my dad every Sunday morning and how great it tasted. Out of much love and and respect and my wonderful childhood/adult memories of her, I tried making it using this recipe. It turned out PERFECT!! I will be making sausage gravy at least once a month now going forward and thinking about that sweet, kind, loving grandmother of mine who I miss so much.
This recipe was a hit with the family! Will be making again.
I made this.. I put extra flour in and extra milk… it was the first time ever making sausage gravy. This recipe is great! Thanks!!
Followed the recipe just as it is and was delicious.
was great gravy, 1st time making gravy but I had to periodically add more flour with increasing to higher heat than just simmer to get it to thicken.
I doubled the recipe and used hot spicy sausage rolls. Every bite was gobbled. Very delicious recipe
This turned out great, I used spicy sausage to give it more of a kick.
This is the first time I have made gravy. I used coconut milk instead of milk. Next time I’ll add a few red pepper chili flakes for a little extra spice. For my first time making gravy I think it turned out and tasted real good!
very good. My wife and I felt like we were back in North Carolina. The only problem was a rookie mistake I made when seasoning; I added a couple shakes of salt before tasting. Next time, no salt.
This was really quick and simple to make. I added some sage for a little extra something, my family loved it.
I made this now four times. My husband and I just love it! I did use about a half pound more sausage than the recipe calls for, but still turns out absolutely delicious. More sausage, how could it not!!
Loved it. Tasted great the first time.
This turned out perfect. Will make this more often!
Made this as per the recipe, and it turned out just the way I love my sausage gravy. And so easy to make. I lived in the South, (Charleston, SC), for eight years, and had occasion to try innumerable variations of this gravy, but the basic one here is still my favorite. Now, if I could just master the art of great biscuit baking…
So easy to follow. I have messed up gravy multiple times, but this one turned out great!
Perfect, and I an not a sausage fan.
This recipe is the bomb. Its easy and the flavor and texture is perfect. You can change it up using different flavors of sausage ( hot-sage-maple). My pop is 89 and from Kentucky, he said it took him back to the days of his mothers cooking.
