Any meat would taste great marinated in this sweet and sour red wine vinegar reduction. It’s a lovely sauce to use on fruit or vegetables as well.

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup red wine vinegar
  2. ¼ cup white sugar
  3. 2 cinnamon sticks
  4. 1 medium lemon, zested
  5. 4 whole cloves

Instructions

  1. Combine vinegar, sugar, cinnamon sticks, lemon juice, and cloves in a saucepan; bring mixture to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Reduce the heat to low; simmer until sauce reduces slightly and is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 10 minutes.
  2. Add cayenne pepper for a spicy flavor.
