Even while carbonara is known for being a short meal to prepare, you may speed up the process by using ramen in place of regular pasta. If desired, sprinkle more Parmesan on top.

Ingredients

  1. 2 slices bacon, chopped
  2. ½ cup chopped onion
  3. 2 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles (flavor packets discarded)
  4. ½ cup frozen peas
  5. 1 egg
  6. ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  7. ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  8. 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  9. Chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp, about 5 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain. Add onion to bacon drippings in skillet; cook until tender, 3 to 5 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, cook ramen in a saucepan according to package directions, adding peas the last minute of cooking. Reserve 1/2 cup cooking water; drain.
  3. Whisk together egg, Parmesan, onion and drippings, salt, and red pepper in a bowl. Add hot ramen and cooked bacon. Toss to coat, adding enough reserved cooking water to make a creamy consistency. Top servings with parsley.
  4. You can replace the egg with 1/4 cup refrigerated egg product if desired.

Easy and AWESOME!!! I substituted chopped broccoli for the peas and used regular salt in place of Kosher, plus one extra slice of bacon. Great flavor and my hubby and I devoured the whole pan!

I made this for one, so I I halved everything. I did use 2 slices of bacon and 1 egg (I would use 2 eggs if making 2 packs of ramen). Otherwise I followed the directions as written. I had some grape tomatoes so I added a few before plating. Absolutely delicious! If you want a super quick and easy and delicious recipe, this is it!

I made this for my family a few days ago, and everybody loved it! I didn’t have any parsley on hand, so I used grated parmesan and romano to put on top, and it came out great. 5/5; I would make this again!

Not what I was expecting to get when I searched for Ramen on here and I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. Very versatile recipe and super quick. Easy weeknight meal. Time to try this with my other staples…stuffed into jalapeño peppers maybe?

This had a good taste, but the texture was really off because of the ramen. I think it needs a good sturdy pasta, like linguini or even fettuccini. I will try the same sauce next time with a more sturdy pasta.

Great comfort food. I added 1/8 to 1/4 head of shredded cabbage just after the onion became soft and translucent and sauteed until just slightly soft. Also increased the amount of peas slightly and added 1/4 cup cream to the egg mixture before adding the hot ramen.

I made this recipe and just didn’t like it. This is also the first recipe I have made from All Recipes that was just not good and that I felt like I could not alter to make good. Although one of my children seemed to appreciate it, returning for seconds, I attribute that to a compromised palate. My husband, who is very low maintenance and is always appreciative praising my cooking quietly ate and didn’t say a word. Here was my experience. First, the texture of these instant noodles was slimy and did not work with the texture of the peas and bacon. Second, the overall taste was bitter and not very flavorful. I struggled with how to even go about doctoring the taste and finally decided it would require a completely separate recipe including homemade ramen noodles at best. I will not be revisiting this one.

Have to say I wasn’t sure if we would like this recipe. Let me tell you…we loved it! I did add mushrooms, orange pepper,and baby Bok choy (I had those veggies). OMG! I can’t tell you how surprised we were. Hubby said he loved it too. Definitely a keeper. Will make again. Thanks for sharing.

I used bacon crumbles from the store for an easy option to cooking bacon. My family needs a protein source in our meals always so I used cooked four chicken breasts and chunked them to add in as well (prepared for 8 servings). A definite winner!
