Level: Easy
Total: 35 min
Active: 20 min
Yield: 32 pieces

Ingredients

  1. Nonstick cooking spray, for the baking sheet
  2. One 13.8-ounce tube pizza dough
  3. 1 1/4 cups store-bought pizza sauce
  4. 8 slices mozzarella, cut into 4 pieces each
  5. 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  6. 32 small slices pepperoni
  7. One 12-ounce package mini hot dogs
  8. 1 large egg
  9. 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan
  10. 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper sprayed with cooking spray.
  3. Open up the pizza dough and pat out into an even 14-by-10-inch rectangle, with the longest side at the top. Cut into 32 rectangles by cutting 8 vertical strips, then cutting each strip 4 times horizontally.
  4. Place a teaspoon of pizza sauce into the center of each rectangle, then top with a piece of mozzarella. Sprinkle on a few crushed red pepper flakes and top each with a slice of pepperoni. Place a hot dog across the shorter side (so it sticks out). Roll up each rectangle, pressing the seam to secure. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough and fillings.
  5. Beat the egg in a small bowl with 1 tablespoon water and brush over the top of the dough.
  6. Mix together the Parmesan and Italian seasoning and sprinkle over the prepared pigs in blankets.
  7. Bake until golden brown, about 15 minutes. Serve with the remaining pizza sauce.

We saw these in tv last week and decided to bring them to a church potluck. Everyone loved them! We left the sauce out of the middle to make it a little less messy and served the marinara on the side. These were a great twist to traditional pigs in a blanket. Thank you!

How many times did her shirt sleeve hit the food. Unacceptable.

These were delicious! The only thing that I did differently is I skipped the sauce inside and just used a dipping sauce. Less messy that way. Terrific football snacks and very easy to make.

Ree has taught me so much about cooking. My mom passed when I was 20 so I didnt get to learn recipes & cooking secrets like other women have. My family loves Ree’s recipes & my daughter is learning how to cook the recipes! Plus my kitchen is almost totally Pioneer Woman! Wish I couldve given Ree more stars! You Rock, Pioneer Woman!

Made these for my nephew’s 10th birthday. Went over like crazy. I learned a few of things. First, there’s 30 mini hotdogs in 12 ounces. Second, while the partygoers are popping these in their mouths, they don’t care about the sauce. Third, I thought I was a pretty good cook until I started watching Ree Drummond. You go girl!

Why have pizza roles and pigs in a blanket separately when you can have them together!?  Super fun to make and eat with the kids.
