Used storebought fresh rolled dough. Added more cheese and filling. Braid came out beautiful. Also because I cooked it on a dark baking sheet the bottom was done before the top so I had to broil the top for 2 minutes. Served with marinara on side.
I did not use frozen bread dough; I used a Pillsbury-type pizza dough. I didn’t make a braid. I did the filling as instructed. It was a good guide, but it’s so customizable. I halved the recipe and it was enough for two adults with almost no leftovers.
All is good, except, use Pizza Dough…
It was so easy to make. I did change a few things. I did not use sauce and I used pepperoni and ham only. It was so yummy
this is definitely easy enough to make and the kids will love it, but to me it was just bland. I think I will try it again and add italian seasoning to the crust before adding the ingredients. I’ll update and let ya know how it was.
Easy and delicious 🙂 will definitely make again!
Didnt change a thing.. and LOVED it. Thank you! 🙂
Oh.My.Goodness!!! Tastes like the YUMMIEST pizza EVER! I really, really enjoyed this and would definitely make it again. I made the dough in my bread machine (just used my calzone recipe) and it worked great. I sprinkled a little fresh basil and parsley on the tomato sauce that I used and it was super-tasty. Thanks!!
I love pizza in any shape or form but braids are cute and presentable. I like herbs mixed in with the parmesan.
Can’t go wrong with this recipe. I didn’t do the braid.
Thanks for the dinner idea! I used french bread dough from the grocery store bakery, and added a little garlic powder to the top before baking. My hubby dipped his stromboli in extra spaghetti sauce (warmed) and enjoyed it. I prefer pizza–less bread and more toppings. If I do it again, I’ll add more veggies and use thinner dough.
This was a huge hit and so easy. Added mushrooms, onions and bell pepper and the flavors were delicious. This will become a regular at our house.
This was a very good recipe. It seems like there is something missing. But I am definitely adding this to my meal plan rotation.
Really good recipe. I shape the dough into snakes and paint with a egg wash tinted with green food coloring around Halloween for parties.
This is a great recipe. I recommend using the pillsbury croissant dough for the bread because it fluffs up nicely and tastes so much better than some of the other frozen breads you can get. I stretched the dough out long ways and then made layers (wrapping the dough around the ingredients like a pizza pocket).
I made two modifications to this dish. #1 I brushed a Tuscan oil seasoning on top of the bread, which definitely added more flavor to the bread. #2 I used pizza sauce for dipping.
I made these last night for dinner. I used the refrigerated pillsburry pizza dough because that is what I had. I just the dough down the middle and filled them with the toppings we wanted and then folded them. I used an egg wash on the top as other reviewers suggested. They turned out perfect! I plan to make these again. They are easy to make and you can make them any way you want.
I used pizza dough and added thinly sliced cooked steak with additional cheese to the second stromboli. A second stromboli was made because the first just lacked something.
could not have been easier or more delish! My sons went crazy for it!
I altered the recipe some. I used 1/2 lb. of sausage in addition to the pepperoni and pizza sauce rather than spaghetti. I also used an italian cheese blend rather than the mozzeralla and added minced garlic. Delicious!
Very easy recipe and came out great. However, next time I am not sure I’d do the braiding on the top. I am not sure I did it right and there was so much bread on the top.
