So wonderful, yet I must say that it sounds repulsive. Every single person who has ever had this sandwich and loved it.

Very good
This sandwich was a fave with some in our family and I particularly enjoyed it. Totally agree on the crisp iceberg lettuce but we used Miracle Whip in place of Mayo. Give it a try!
Surprisingly zesty taste! Great for leftover lettuce!
One of my favorite sandwiches since I was a kid in the ’50s. But my mom made them with lots of iceberg lettuce, like a hunk 2″ thick. Makes a great contrast to the sticky peanut butter and c4eamy mayo.
Mine of course is creamy peanut butter with Miracle Whip and a dash of yellow mustard. I didn’t know this was a thing!! When I was 8 my class had a field trip and you had to bring a sack lunch and all we had in the house was peanut butter and Miracle Whip. I was either really hungry or it was THAT good. Been eating it ever since then. That was in 84′. That was in Florida, but I am from Iowa.
My Mom use to make these sandwiches for us kids back when I was in grade school (I’m 69). Brings back memories.
Finally! This has always been my favorite sandwich! And I see it recommended on your site! Excellent and well deserved I might add. I’ve been eating peanut butter, mayonaise and lettuce for years. And I’m 77!
Ate this exact combo often growing up in the 50’s and 60’s. Cheap, and could be put together while the school bus was within sight.
My grandma use to make this for me when I was a kid. I love it, but use Miracle Whip instead of mayo.
Holy Cow! I thought I was the only one on the planet that ate this!! Now it’s even a recipe–who knew? I L-O-V-E eating this but I don’t do the lettuce. Try it, you will be surprised!
I have been making this for decades & everyone thought I was cracked i the head but I love this sandwich especially when its got onions & at times I change it up & add very thin slices of other vegetables. Tonight I am putting cucumber on it along with lettuce onion & maybe mayo not sure yet. This is very nutritious too.
My best friend told me about this many, many years ago! I absolutely love them! Sounds strange, but they are great! Especially with a glass of cold milk!
I am 88 years old! This has been my favorite sandwich of all time since I started grade school about a hundred years ago! Okay, how about 83 years ago? In fact, I want one right now, am able to make one here in my retirement home! YUM!!
I grew up eating this and loved it. Haven’t had it in years so thanks for the reminder. Another great family sandwich was peanut butter and sweet pickles (or sandwich spread, if you can find it). This will be my lunch tomorrow!!!
my goodness
I grew up with this sandwich but my mom used Miracle Whip instead of Hellman’s . I tried it this way and did not care for it. You should try the Miracle Whip instead, it is awesome!
I love peanut butter and mayo sandwiches. Such an unexpected, yet delicious combo.
I “discovered” this sandwich recipe in 1969 when I was a broke and hungry college student. It must be made with Hellman’s original regular normal mayonnaise no modern p.c. mayo. And creamy Peter Pan Peanut Butter. Crispy lettuce is good but not necessary. Very satisfying comfort food. Another good PB sandwich is with Oscar Mayer Bologna and Velveeta cheese.
My mom showed me this sandwich when I was a kid and it is by far my favorite!!! No one gets it, some people are even willing to try. Their loss….
was kinda skeptical at first only made a single slice half took one bite….not bad. I out a piece of fried bacon on it WOOOOOOOOOW taste buds didn’t know what to. AWESOMENESS
I grew up eating peanut butter and mayo sandwiches. I still love them today. The way that I made mine different than this one was not adding the lettuce.
