Peach Sangria

  4.9 – 8 reviews  • Mexican

When I was a young wife, my grandfather showed me how to make this homemade sangria, and I love it. He claimed he had picked up making skills while working in Mexico when he was younger. Although it is simple, the techniques do require some time for curing. Mango, peach-mango, and pear-pineapple sangrias have all been served to us. If you like, you can add blueberries, mint leaves, or fresh peach slices as a garnish.

Yield: 10 servings

Ingredients

  1. 4 large fresh peaches – peeled, pitted, and sliced
  2. 1 cup hot water
  3. ½ cup light brown sugar
  4. 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  5. 2 ½ cups dry white wine
  6. ½ cup triple sec liqueur
  7. 1 (750 milliliter) bottle sparkling white wine, chilled

Instructions

  1. Blend peaches, hot water, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a blender or food processor until smooth. Transfer to a pitcher; stir in dry white wine and triple sec. Cover and chill in refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
  2. Strain peach mixture through a large cheesecloth-lined sieve; squeeze cloth to remove all the juices. Pour juice into a large pitcher; stir in sparkling white wine.
  3. Save the strained peach pulp for another use, such as quick breads.

Oh my good gracious, this is good! I used wonderfully sweet peaches in season and followed the recipe pretty closely except I didn’t peel the peaches and used a submersion blender. I didn’t have triple sec, so I used Gran Marnier. I didn’t strain the juice since I like the pulp. Also, I didn’t feel like going out to get sparkling wine so I just added some Fresca for a single drink. Its very potent even without the sparkling wine! Will definitely make again – this needs to be shared w friends and family you like!

Nice, light summer beverage. Love it. I was afraid it would be too sweet to suit me, but it’s not. Wonderful!

It was okay, but next time I would skip the cinnamon and use white sugar instead of brown. My husband used to be a bartender, and he didn’t like this because of the cinnamon, and I only put a small amount in, but it takes over.

No changes made! Delicious!

I made it but replaced peaches with pineapple, strawberries, and orange slices. I used orange cranberry juice and a shot of orange juice. Tastes a lot better.

This sangria is excellent! Very light and refreshing. I followed the recipe exactly, although I think next time I’ll add fresh peach slices to the glass.

Easy, refreshing, and enjoyed by our guests. I only had 3 peaches on hand, but it still tasted great. Not sure why the cheesecloth step is needed. I used Cooks dry champagne instead do sparkling wine. All good!
